Ad a leen...

evamummy · 01/12/2011 07:11

I'd pronounce it with -ine as -een.

There's a Barber Shop style song called "Sweet Adeline". Some friends of DS used to sing it at school concerts. Very retro!

It goes,

Sweet Adeline
Will you be mine?
Etc
Etc

The daughter in bread was Aveline.

DessieLou · 01/12/2011 10:52

I prefer it pronounced Ada - leen. How about Adele, Adela, Ada?

I've got a French friend called Adeline - she says Ad-e-leen.

Depends on the language:
In German I'd say Ah-de-LINE
In French Ad-e-LEEN
In English probably Ade-LYNE

MamaLazarou · 01/12/2011 14:05

Ad-a-leen. I used to work with one (French).

Beautiful name.

Smiller10 · 19/12/2011 17:31

My cousin is pronounced Adda-leen - we've always called her Addie for short (Add-ee) which I love
