Me and DH are almost sick of discussing names now! It was fun at first but now we just want DS2 to have a name!

DS1 is Joseph. we loved this name from early on in pregnancy and have never quite found a name we love as much this time round.

We both like Thomas, it seems to fit fairly well with joseph and it another classic sounding name which I think probably won't date but what does everyone think? Any other names with the same kind of 'feel' to them would be welcome!

Well my DS is called Thomas Joseph (but the spanish version and spelling) so you have my vote. Grin

I think Thomas is lovely and goes well with Joseph.

Other names I would suggest that are of a similar vein:
Oliver
Henry/Harry
William
Nicholas
Alexander
George

Tom and Joe sounds perfect Smile

I like William and its our family name but couldn't have it Sad I love wills for nn

Oh thank u both! DH's favourite is Oliver but we were put off by the fact that it seems to be enormously popular round here (not sure if that should put me off though as i's such a nice name it's popular for a reason). Henry I love but DH is not keen. Definitely the sort of names we are looking for though. We like classic/ timeless boring names!

Will I like, William I like but the thought of a little Willy running about doesn't thrill me lol.

I like Thomas - should do DS and DD are Thomas and Josephine!

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 27/11/2011 15:16

I like Thomas and it's on our list. Others are Jacob (though maybe not with Joseph), Oliver, Benjamin, Matthew, William, Dominic

Montsti · 27/11/2011 15:25

Edward
Sebastian?

I actually know more Thomases than Olivers but obviously they're both popular, but also timeless so personally I wouldn't worry. I like very similar names to you! Joseph & Thomas/Oliver both sound great. I do prefer Oliver and love William (though only Will as a nn.!)...in a few years time Oliver and Thomas might not be so popular..

secretcodes · 27/11/2011 15:31

Mmm maybe it depends what are we're in. Here Oliver is definitely the most popular boys name. I have met 3 baby Olivers and a baby Ollie in the past month or 2. It's a lovely name though so that doesn't worry me too much. I love Matthew nearly as much as I love Joseph but sadly our lat name starts with 'Math......' so it doesn't sound good.

Thomas and Oliver are both lovely.

I like Daniel and Edward, they both go well with Joseph.

PotteringAlong · 27/11/2011 15:52

Noah?

Love Oliver too.

Montsti · 27/11/2011 16:04

I know a lot of both (don't see it as an issue as for me both lovely names!) more Thomases older than 4 though which makes sense as Oliver has particularly peaked in the past 3 years..interestingly only 14 in 2000 so maybe the Georges of this world will take the top spot over the next few years and push Oliver/Jack/Harry/Thomas etc..further down..out of interest does anyone know when the next popular names come out?

simbo · 27/11/2011 16:10

There is at least one Thomas in each year at our primary, and there are 3 in one class. No that I'm suggesting you think again or anything.

Diamondwhite · 28/11/2011 12:33

I know a Thomas and Joe. They go well together.

I also know and Joseph and Isaac, another good match.
