Mason, Ethan, Alex .....

Hiya,
I'm trying to get a list of boys names together

Names I like are

Mason
Ethan
Alex
Lucas

Like James or Jay for a middle name - both family names,

What are your opinions on the above and can you think of any other names you think I might like.

Go with what you love! My taste is more traditional so Alec or Luke would be variations but it's up to you!

I like them all, except Mason. How about Nicholas, Rupert, Isaac, Zachary....

Any apart from Mason and much prefer James to Jay

Mason - I hate to say it but I will - it's quite chav... sorry.
Ethan - It seems to be fashionable right now, a few celebs have chosen it and I think it will date.
Alex - Classic and can't go wrong with it.
Lucas - I like this the best, it's classic but a little bit different.

I'm a little biased as I have a 17 week old DS named Alex. I'm afraid i really dislike Mason and Ethan is a bit blah for me - lots and lots around. Really like Lucas as well though and pretty uncommon.

Thanks ladies so the general consensus seems to be yes to Lucas and Alex No to Mason.

Agree with everyone else that Mason is a no. Personally I'm not keen on Ethan either.

I'm also struggling with boys names. There's lots I like, but none I love. Will be lurking for some inspiration.

I like Ethan and Alex (with Alexander as full name). Nicholas is nice too.

Alex and Lucas are lovely names.

Not keen on the other two. Or Nicholas.

Love Alex, hate Mason, the other two are ok. I'd put Alexander on the birth certificate.

I really liked Lucas - until someone said he'l get called mucus Lucas at school!! Now when I think of my baby as a Lucas I picture him as a blob of flem lol

I like Lucas Alexander - goes well with the surname as well, now if I could just shake off the Mucus

There are two boys named lucas in ds's year at school and I have never heard them being called mucus lucas!

The only name on your list I don't like is Mason.

This is an easy one because Mason is dreadful but Alex and Lucas are really good. Ethan is ok but doesn't do anything for me - just a bit wet, fails to make any statement, makes me think of methane, or protestant Americans being traditional.

Thanks all, still struggling to find a name my DP doesn't like any of the above and I'm not keen on any of his favs - Liam and Dylan for example.

Really like Lucas and Alex. Not so keen on Ethan and we know a dog called Mason!

Lucas with Jay as a mn is lovely. Mason is not lovely.

Please not Mason, you wouldn't call someone plumber or electrician, would you.

Ethan sounds nasal and 'thin' to me.

Alex is nice but prefer Alec.
Lucas and Luke are lovely.
Nicholas is gorgeous imo.

I know a lovely 11yo Mason. Very sporty high achiever.
I really don't like Ethan or Lucas.

My super gorgeous 2 year old nephew is called Mason so I love it! My sister would be most upset if she knew it was considered a chav name!

Controversially I think Ethan is awful, sorry, I know its popular but think it could quickley become the kevin of the era ducks for cover
