Can I call dd my boss's name?

Lovely boss, worked there for years, quite a close knit team. Even if I don't go back after mat leave I am friend's with some of my workmates and see them socially and am likely to maintain some sort of contact with boss.

Her name is one that we both like but discounted because it felt a bit arse-lickey. However, dd has latched onto this name and really loves it. All her dolls and toys are called this name and she keeps asking if her baby sister can be called it. Ordinarily I'd nod and smile and ignore but its a name that we liked anyway and it would be nice to let her feel like she has a say. She's nearly 4 btw.

What do you think? Ok or arse-lickey? I'm just thinking of the announcement email that I send round to work

Do it! Helena is beautiful. You can always tell your boss in advance.

I'd beware pronounciation issues though as there are also Hel-ee-na and Hel-ay-na as accepted pronounciations, though Helen-a is the most well known.

Yes, the pronunciation does bother me, having spent 12 years answering her phone with "no, sorry HELEN-A isn't at her desk at the moment".

I don't know. We'll still be arguing the toss at the registry office, I can see Confused

Go for it! Helena is a lovely name and not so unique that you couldn't have thought of it yourself and it is a clear copy, if you see what I mean.

Susannah is also nice though.

I like Susannah very much, and am surprised it's not more popular.

Lovely name. And i agree with the suggestion to tell everyone at work its your aunts /grans name. Just to dispel any whiff of a* licking

Helena is fab. So is Susannah though!
