Hi Lovely MNetters!

DS3 is due soon... the dates are fast approaching and we are still lost for a name for him!
DH and I have a shortlist, but nothing really screams out 'me, me!' so I was hoping you ladies could have a quick scan and tell me yay or nay in your opinion.

We like:
Austell
Arden
Lachlan
Huxley

All feedback most welcome!

Well, Arden to me is a girls name, so I would nix that one!

Austell is okay, not something I would choose but not hideous.

Huxley is a no from me!!

Lachlan I like :)

Zaft · 25/11/2011 09:40

I would go with Lachlan from your list.

Have you considered Dexter? I love it and it seems in a similar style to your list.

CEDR · 25/11/2011 10:05

Bucking the trend, I like Austell!

mayanna123 · 25/11/2011 10:06

I know a male Arden - I like it. I also like Lachlan and Huxley very much. In fact I think all your options are nice, classic but not overused names. Can't go wrong with any imo.

BlueChampagne · 25/11/2011 13:37

Lachlan is my favourite. Would have campaigned for it myself except it wouldn't work with our surname.

fanjodisfunction · 25/11/2011 13:42

I like all you names, you have got excellant taste.

I really like Lachlan but prefer Lochlan.

fanjodisfunction · 25/11/2011 13:44

though Hux is a very cool nn.

Psammead · 25/11/2011 13:57

I've never head of Austell. Sounds a bit like hostel.
Arden - dislike
Lachlan is ok
Huxley - wasn't that a pig? I do quite like it though.

MinnieBar · 25/11/2011 13:57

Another vote for Lachlan here.

Felix??

naturalbaby · 25/11/2011 13:59

Lachlan or Huxley

planetpotty · 25/11/2011 14:03

Huxley Wink

snice · 25/11/2011 14:09

Austell-prefer Austin
Arden-don't like
Lachlan-OK
Huxley-sounds like a cartoon character

Agree with whoever said Dexter/Felix
How about Jerome?
or Angus?
or Jethro?

timetoask · 25/11/2011 14:12

Austell - sounds like hostel
Arden - sounds like lady's makeup somehow
Lachlan - sounds like a laxative
Huxley - I think it is the best of the lot.

Conundrumish · 25/11/2011 16:39

Fenton? Wink

What about Lorcan?

survivingsummer · 25/11/2011 20:20

I like Lachlan - Lachy for short is nice although not sure how easy to say if not scottish!

Huxley makes me think of Huxley pig although not against it otherwise

Not sure about Austell or Arden..

I guess you are one of those lucky people with a 'surnamey' surname so people won't get confused?

leelo · 25/11/2011 21:06

i couldn't choose a name for my son so dh and i came up with 4 names we didn't hate and let our daughter pick his name. it let her be part of the process and we call him by a nick name anyway. his real name is only used when he gets given into trouble.

but i would do the shout test with each name where you pretend to shout your proposed name like your wee one has run off. if you still like it after then its a contender.

i like lachlan

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 25/11/2011 22:02

Lachlan is alright not really keen on the others. What are your other DC called.

Offspring · 25/11/2011 23:19

I like Lachlan - would have considered it for DS but it rhymes with our surname to the point of sounding daft.
