I'd pronounce it Me-ah Kate-lin

And I think it's lovely Smile

Greythorne · 21/11/2011 19:29

Me-a Kate-Lynn

ThePathanKhansWitch · 21/11/2011 19:31

I would say Me-ah Kate-lin, and it's lovely.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/11/2011 19:31

Mee-a Cotchlin (but I'd go with Kathleen, detest Kate-lynn)

GwendolineMaryLacey · 21/11/2011 19:31

Oh and it's lovely :)

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 21/11/2011 19:33

Me-A Kathleen - but Katelyn would be the norm where I am from. I like it, but Mia is quite popular at the moment. Just saying.

Kayano · 21/11/2011 19:34

I was going with Kathleen after my mum and gran who both had the British version of the name after moving here.

My great gran was called Susannah O'Hara but DH vetoed it lol

Mee-a Kat-leen.

I think though that most people in the UK pronounce Caitlin kate-Linn, so if you want Kathleen, I would call her Kathleen tbh.

Mia Caitlin or Mia Kathleen are both lovely choices imo. Smile

Get0rf · 21/11/2011 19:37

WHy did he veto Susannah O'Hara, what a fantastic name.

make him change his mind Grin

Kayano · 21/11/2011 19:39

Because he does not like the fact that everyone in my whole family except me is either Kathleen or Suzie lol. It was one or the other and I do quite like my mum and gran Grin

Me-ah Kate-lynn

It is a very pretty name!

Bue · 21/11/2011 20:49

Yes would definitely pronounce that Mee-ah Kate-lyn. They're both nice but I think Mia Kathleen is the nicer option, actually. Maybe you could convince him of the joy of family names? :)

mumbrane · 21/11/2011 21:23

Deffo Me-ah.

Its Kathleen (or sort of Cotchleen) in Irish but I know that most non-Irish say Kate-lynn, which I strongly dislike.

shakeyjake · 22/11/2011 12:44

me-ah kate-lyn - these are 2 fantastic names my dd1 is caitlin and dd2 is mia :-)

MamaLazarou · 22/11/2011 14:28

Mee-ah Cotchleen. If you want Katelyn, spell it Katelyn.

NewsClippings · 22/11/2011 14:38

My-a Kate-lyn

GooseyLoosey · 22/11/2011 14:40

I would say Caitlin as kathleen, but think if you are living in England you will have to get used to Kate lynn as the normal pronunciation.

shouldnotbehere · 22/11/2011 14:52

Me-ah Kate-Lyn

mathanxiety · 22/11/2011 16:54

Mee-a for Mia.

If you want 'Kathleen' then spell it Kathleen or you will end up with Kate-lynn.
