Would Edward be shortened.

I prefer Edward John & love Ted. But dislike the nn Teddy & Eddie/Edd.

So in that case I'd go for James Alexander.

Both nice, my friend has twins called James & Edward (don't know their middle names, must ask!)

Don't mind either, but conversely neither excites me much... Edward has better nns IMHO so I think I'd opt for that.

Edward for sure. In fact Edward John is my father's name!!

I find James so overused and so popular that it is a little dull. Not offensive but just dull. Edward is super cute with lots of great nick names.

How about Edward James? Has a nice ring to it IMO. Both good solid names. But agree you need to like all potential nns. How do you feel about those?
