Bella or Eloise?

Hope88 · 18/11/2011 18:15

Is Bella usually as a nn only? Does anyone have Bella? Shall I use Isabella officially instead?
Would Eloise be called Ellie?
Which one do you prefer?

I think they're both lovely!

I think Bella can be a free-standing name, but if you wanted a longer form there is also Annabel, Arabella, and Belinda.

Eloise might become Elle, Ellie, Lou, Lulu or Louse (latter only really likely if she has big brothers!)

Love Bella.

fivegomadindorset · 18/11/2011 18:28

Eloise

GwendolineMaryLacey · 18/11/2011 18:29

Bella, love Belinda too. Can't bear Eloise.

meditrina · 18/11/2011 18:30

Oh - and Bellatrix is a lovely name too, even though it screeches HP mad villainess.

dollywashers · 18/11/2011 18:41

I love Bella. Think it's a lovely stand alone name.

NettoSuperstar · 18/11/2011 18:44

Eloise.
Up to you obviously, but there's so many Isobel/Isabella and variations of atm.
Mind you, variations on Ella/Ellie are the same and Eloise might be shortened similarly?

If you don't mind a popular name then it doesn't matter.

Meta4 · 18/11/2011 19:43

Eloise

mamalovebird · 18/11/2011 19:48

My niece is Isabelle and her nn is Belle/Bella.

Eloise is lovely, I'd choose that.

PippiLongBottom · 18/11/2011 19:57

Bella. Can't bear Eloise although I have no reason for it.

fivegomadindorset · 18/11/2011 20:00

Bella just reminds me of Twilight.

ZuleikaJambiere · 18/11/2011 20:05

Both lovely, although having an Eloise I am biased towards that one! Btw, her name doesn't get shortened to Ellie/Ella - she is Eloise or sometimes Eloisie

bigbadbarry · 18/11/2011 20:08

Eloise

yumminessmumminess · 18/11/2011 20:10

I have to admit Bella just makes me think of Twilight!
I do like Eloise though and know and Eloise who goes by Elise which I think is pretty

breatheslowly · 18/11/2011 20:36

Eloise - there are loads of Bellas out there at the moment and secretly I want an Eloise.

Hope88 · 18/11/2011 20:42

How do you pronounce Eloisie? Zuleika

OP posts:
ZuleikaJambiere · 18/11/2011 20:56

Eloise-y, when she was tiny she also got Weezy woo, but grew out of that (fortunately for her Grin)

tuffinmop · 18/11/2011 21:01

bella is a tweenie. Elouise all the way

ItchyChin · 18/11/2011 21:04

Know an Elouise who is a Oisy (weezy) think it's quite cute.

sparkina · 18/11/2011 21:13

You're a brave lady this is a dangerous question it will only confuse you more but as you asked.......... definitely Isabella shortened to bella.

RonnieBirtles · 18/11/2011 22:40

Bella is beautifuk as a stand alone name. I much prefer it to Annabel/Isabella etc.

I don't like Eloise at all. Louisa is a more classic name and Elodie is prettier.

FootballFriendSays · 18/11/2011 23:14

Eloise.

meditrina · 18/11/2011 23:18

"beautifuk" Grin

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 19/11/2011 00:42

I think Belle is much more elegant than Bella. Thinking about it, I also think Elle is lovelier than Ella. The 'a' on the end seems to make it much more clunking, though I can't work out why.

Eloise is really nice as well.

startail · 19/11/2011 00:47

Eloise is beautiful, I'd go with that and try and resist her becoming another Ellie, we have several.
