Dh likes Atticus. I quite like it too - but would he get called something for short?

Unusual name, cous cous sprang to mind but then I can be rather juvenileGrin

Ticky. Cussy.

Tw1nkle · 15/11/2011 18:57

Nicknames are always a funny one aren't they?

My Mom & Dad called me and my sister Ruth & Kay - purely so they couldn't be shortened, or nicknames given........but we did get nicknames from our surname anyway!!!

Atticus is really nice - very unusual.

If I were a 4yr old, I'd be coming up with:
Atti, attic, lofty, cous cous (as mentioned above!)......but most names can get nicknames.....atticus is a beautiful name.

Knew an Atticus called Atti by his parents.

exoticfruits · 15/11/2011 19:13

Any name gets shortened-if not they get lengthened or called something else entirely!

Fishpond · 15/11/2011 19:14

Disagree - Sarah (my name) has never been given any derivitive or lengthening. It is possible to avoid. Smile

exoticfruits · 15/11/2011 19:17

Only if you want to Sarah-if you want it shortened it will be shortened. We gave DS a short name and he gets called his surname-he likes it! DS2 has a long name-I am the only person to use it-he likes it shortened.

Fishpond · 15/11/2011 19:24

I wanted it shortened or given any nickname my whole life - never happened, even after expressing desire.

Northernrose · 15/11/2011 19:32
