Hello ladies, Just wondering which of the following is your favourite name for my baby boy? All feedback and any new suggestions really welcome!! These have been my favourites for a while

Noah
Alex
Jacob
Rafferty
Henry

I also like Oliver (but cant have), William, George (cant have).

I do like classical/traditional names and quite like shorter names- Noah and Alex- or names with good nickname potential- Raffy. Quite like Wilfred nn Wilf but OH hates. Hate names i personally consider pretentious like Barnaby etc.

I have a feeling I will have 2 boys in me too so I would like to think about whether the names fit well with each other.

THANK YOU! Sorry for the essay!!!
Lora xx

Rafferty is my favourite boys name, but I like all your suggestions.

Saturdaynightbeaver · 12/11/2011 23:26

Why is Barnaby pretentious but Rafferty not? :)

uphillbothways · 12/11/2011 23:36

I find Noah a bit twee but like the rest. I love Rafferty! I think Rafferty and Henry would be my favourite twin combo.

Lora69 · 12/11/2011 23:41

lol, because Barnaby reminds me of the bear? Raffy is cool imo and Rafferty more down to earth than Barnaby imho :) Thank you everyone.. I like Noah and Jacob or Noah and Alex for twinnies. Rafferty is real cute tho. Noah has been my longer time number one. No nn potential though which is a shame

Alex - nice as nickname for Alexander
Jacob - good solid classic name
Rafferty - very frilly
Henry - like

Lora69 · 12/11/2011 23:46

I don't think of Rafferty as pretentious - I like it because it is a down to earth surname type of name, but not overused yet. I suppose it depends on the rafferty's you know, the one I know is very friendly and not at all frilly. Love the nicknames.

Henry and Jacob are my favourites

Rafferty isn't a great name, but the rest are nice. :)

For Alex, I would go with a more formal name, like Alexander, with Alex as a nickname.

3isamagicnumber · 14/11/2011 10:55

I like all of them apart from Henry though know of a few Noah's and Alex's so think these are fairly popular.

My fav would be Jacob (nn Jake) - lovely! Smile

halecromp · 14/11/2011 11:13

I think Noah and Henry are lovely x

Hope88 · 14/11/2011 11:54

RAFFERTY!!!! nn Raffy. Lovely!

comedaygoday · 14/11/2011 12:21

Noah: Great, like a lot.
Alex: OK, but Alexander nn Alex is better.
Jacob: Great, like a lot.
Rafferty: Twee and faddy. The weakest of your choices.
Henry: Nice, but Harry is very common.so.I would avoid.

peanutmakinalistncheckinitwice · 15/11/2011 11:08

Love Jacob! Noah is cute too. Like max, George and Zachary nn zac also.

Lora69 · 18/11/2011 22:17

I think we may use Rafferty for our future dog- a scruffy looking Tibetan Terrier or Havanese. Asked oH and he doesnt think he would use the name on our son :( :(

For our baby, I want a name which is open to becoming any type of person if that makes sense, but a bit sensitive/emotionally intelligent. Hence why i seem to like slightly softer names like Noah and Jacob.

I like Noah a lot but am concerned whether some people consider it so called chavvy and will it become easily dated? Not sure if Noah Shailes is strong enough.

Love Jacob, as does nan and she likes Jake, but my OH hates Jake. I would use Jacob mostly, Jake sometimes and I HATE Jay- if it became this I would be really upset as Jacob is beautiful already.

Jacob is a version of my partners name so we have a link there.

Alexander is the name of my passed Grandpa so again special. Like Alex, HATE Al.

Henry is the name of my childhood (ok, teenage) teddy bear, and seems really popular atm so we prob wont go for this okne tho I do love it. Also- is Horrid Henry everywhere?

Noah isn't chavvy. It isn't made up or kreativly spelt and you wouldn't be naming your son after a designer or make of car.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 19/11/2011 08:12

Love Rafferty but does NOT go with our surname. Use it for me, will you?!

Other than that, the only other name on your list that I love is Jacob/Jake.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 19/11/2011 08:13

Yes, Jay is awful.

zumm · 19/11/2011 19:52
