Beatrix or Thea?

...?

I love both. In honesty I love Beatrix perhaps just a little more - for various reasons (length of time I have loved it, it seems more 'spunky' than Thea and also there is no one else I know with the name in real life)

However, there is no denying that Thea is perfection also and a name I have grown to love over the past three years.

The trouble is, is that at my age (30) I think I would prefer to be called Thea rather than Beatrix - else it would be a no-brainer. But then I have a pretty 'safe' name anyway (Kirsty)...

Oh the dilemma... help me, girls!
TYIA :)

Thea definitely Thea. Thea is beautiful yet strong. I don't like Beatrix at all.

peanutbuttercupcake · 11/11/2011 23:44

Thea is beautiful! Thea Beatrix?

proudfoot · 11/11/2011 23:49

Thea.

Personally I find Beatrix a bit "too much" and as you say yourself Thea would be an easier name to have. It is simple, unusual, really pretty whereas Beatrix is a bit "in your face" IMO!

I love them both.

I would probably go for Thea, it seems more timeless to me. We have definitely seen an increase in the number of beatrix/Beatrice around here & I wonder if it's going to see a surge in popularity.

My DD is Hazel & you have me thinking! Hazel & Thea sound lovely together!

Thea. I love it, DH vetoed :(.

Montsti · 12/11/2011 05:01

Definitely Beatrix for me (though prefer Beatrice) - various nns too for different stages of life. love Bebe and Bea!

Am afraid not keen on Thea/Theo - I prefer longer names that you can shorten and I think they are dull-sounding names...

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 12/11/2011 07:24

Do not 'get' Thea at all. Confused

I would not thank you for calling me Thea.

Towndon · 12/11/2011 08:33

Beatrix (although I prefer Beatrice)

MaggieAtwood · 12/11/2011 09:16

I prefer Beatrix. Thea seems unfinished. Theodora or Dorothea nn Thea would be better imo.

I totally, totally love them both and am no help at all!

FairyArmadillo · 12/11/2011 12:25

Beatrix

mathanxiety · 12/11/2011 19:11

Thea is a bit wispy imo. Of the two I prefer Beatrix.

OTOH, Theodora or Theodosia are nice.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 13/11/2011 00:15

I don't 'get' it, that's all there is to it. Do you want me to analyse why I don't get it? Maybe because, to me, it is more like a sound than a person's name. Maybe. I dunno. I just don't get it.

HTH. :)

Beatrix (but spelt Beatrice)

Dislike Thea

Takver · 13/11/2011 15:13

I like them both a lot, but of the two would probably choose Thea (maybe look at the baby & see which she looks like!)

halecromp · 14/11/2011 10:03

I love Thea, not sure about Beatrix xxx

tummytickler · 14/11/2011 11:22

I prefer Beatrix, but if Thea is short for Theodora then I prefer that.

bigbluebump · 14/11/2011 11:23

I personally love Theodora and Beatrice - both lovely like that Smile.
