Bluebell....

My sis is called little blue, long story, its only a nick name, I call her blue, alot.

Have just found out we are expecting a long tried for number three (so there will be lots of name thread form me coming up :) ) and i like the idea of using my sis in the baby's name...blue....Bluebell, which i honestly think is a fabulous name even without sis connection.
So what do you think...Im only a few weeks so have a looong time to change my mind, no need to have me done for child abuse just yet, its just an idea..

"Blue" is okay, Bluebell is just, ugh! Noooooooo...

The Latin name for Bluebell genus is Hyacinthoides, rather like Hyacinth.
I think Hyacinth would be a cool name, and you can still use the nn Blue.

I think it's pretty actually! If you can have a Lily or a Rose or a Poppy, and then a Dahlia or an Azalea, why not a Bluebell? She can always go by Bell(e) if she doesn't like it.

Bluebell to me will always be the name of a cow. It might be a sweet nn, but it's really not a good name at all. Really light weight and twee. I think it is just about OK as a middle name.

Isn't it the name of the Halliwell child? That would put me off using it but otherwise I like it.

It's a lovely idea to honour your sister, but I think Bluebell is twee and sickly sweet. If you.do use it, perhaps keeping it as a mn is better.

I think it's lovely! I don't see how it's any more sickly sweet than Daisy, Poppy etc.

I can see why it might run to some people's tastes and from certain vantage points it is a pretty name... but yet...

I think you'd need to be a celebrity off-spring to pull it off. The off-spring of filthy rich slebs at that, so that you'd never have to actually make your own way in the world, IYSWIM.

Congratulations! I'm not sure about Bluebell. Would probably be nice as a child's name, but I can imagine it bothering her when she's an adult and has to introduce herself at board meetings.

hmm, not all negative, I'm plesantly surprised at how many positive responces there were, Thankyou for the honestly either way though :) Like i said, a long time to decide yet, and we are over the moon.

Our first two DC have ''modern'' names, and I know that doesnt really fit with the mumsnet demographic but tis what dh and I like.

I'm guessing you don't the sex? A friend has a DS called Riley Blue, which I think's a really nice name. My instinct was to say Bluebell would be a nice middle name. Or you could have Belle and nn Bluebell?

My favouritest MNer has an absolutely beautiful Bluebell. I love it.

I don't mind the name - it is pretty, but possibly a bit too cutesy for anyone over 12...but I suppose you could use a nn. after that...

I don't think it goes at all well with your other DC's names though as they are much more modern and this seems more "hippy-like" - excuse the labels/generalizations..

I had never heard the name Kade until this weekend when another MNetter said she had called her DS it. Maybe it's not so unusual after all.
