Charlotte Indigo

We are expecting our 2nd dd and are already set on the first name Charlotte for various reasons, and are now considering her middle name. As Charlotte is a fairly solid, traditional name we are keen to give her something a little unusual as a mn. Our 1st dd has Violet as a mn and it inspired my husband to suggest Indigo, at the moment I really, really like it.

Am I hormone crazed and out of my mind?

If so any other suggestions for something slightly unsual, and pretty, but please let's not get silly here :)

I like Violet as it's the name of a flower, but OTOH names like 'blue' really annoy me Smile

So while Indigo is a pretty word it doesn't do it for me as a name really. iyswim?

And I'm not sure it goes with Charlotte, which is a lovely name in itself.

Can't think of any suggestions that you'd definitely like...but anyway, just my thoughts.

You could go with another flower name I suppose, like Daisy or Ivy or something.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/11/2011 07:00

Iris ? Another blue flower.

DH and I absolutely love the name Charlotte and, in fact if DC2 is a girl (find out in 2 weeks!) then we will definitely use it. Great choice!

I like the word, "Indigo" not sure if it is necessarily the best colour to use as a name (Sapphire, Amber, Violet - obviously won't use again - Emerald, Jade, Ruby, Plum are much more "namey" colours). However if this is the one you and DH like the most then then go for it. My personal favourite is Plum and I know a little girl who has that as her first name - gorgeous!

I like Indigo as a name and would consider it as a first name if I had anymore dc (very unlikely, have 4 already!).

birdofthenorth · 03/11/2011 10:09

I love it. Goes well with Charlotte somehow!

Conflugenghoulgen · 03/11/2011 10:09

Love it.

mrsravelstein · 03/11/2011 10:13

i love it - unusual but not weird, which is what it's all about for me as far as names go

ConfusedGirlSuz · 03/11/2011 14:58

I love it :)

Ephiny · 03/11/2011 15:50

I like it, especially paired with something more mainstream as the first name.

Far too many unimaginative overused middle names that seem just tacked on for the sake of it. When I was growing up everyone seemed to have Louise, these days it seems to be Rose or May/Mae (no offence to anyone who chose those names, it's not that they aren't nice, just good to see something different as well!).

Psammead · 03/11/2011 17:22

I like it!

Montsti · 03/11/2011 18:09

Keep looking again and again at this name on the thread and absolutely love it!

Ephiny - you forgot Jane, my middle name. About 50% of women in their thirties I meet have this as their mn...closely followed by Louise.

nowwearefour · 03/11/2011 18:12

My dd1 is a charlotte in indigo group for literacy at school! it made me smile. i like it and imo middle names get used so infrequently i think you should choose anyhting you like!

LoveInAColdClimate · 03/11/2011 18:12

I love it.

VintageNancy · 03/11/2011 19:35

I really love it too. Charlotte was on my list if DC1 is a girl but a friend has just used it.

choccyp1g · 03/11/2011 19:39

Charlotte Scarlet...?

lordsugarslovechild · 03/11/2011 21:16

I am called Charlotte. I love the name Indigo and always wanted to use it.

Alouette · 03/11/2011 21:18

I love it :) but perhaps Charlotte Lavender is one to think about too?

StetsonsAreCool · 03/11/2011 21:19

I really like it. Not much more I can say Smile It has a really nice rhythm. Go for it!

exoticfruits · 03/11/2011 21:29

Charlotte Lavender or Charlotte Primrose seems much nicer.
