Boys' names mooted

Edward
Barnaby
Henry

Girls' names mooted

Matilda
Harriet
Henrietta
Grace

I love Constance and Cecily too but DH not convinced.

We get a bit stuck on 2 or 3 names and appear unable to come up with new ideas so please inspire us.

Ideally not too popular (probably ruling Grace and Matilda out) and we obviously quite like old fashioned names.

Hugh gets called Hughie and Alfred, Fred incidentally.

Thanks

George is perfect with your DS' names Smile

Not too fussed on the girl choices. How about

Cordelia
Cecilia
Celeste
Delphine
Georgina
Corrinne or Corinna
Josephine

and for boys

Herbert nn Herb
Arthur nn Art
Stanley

Matilda (nn Tilly) or Edward (nn Ned)

spotty26 · 01/11/2011 21:26

George and Georgina are lovely but out due to v.close family member being George.

Arthur is Hugh's middle name and he gets called Hubert as a jokey name so Herbert is a no. I do like Stanley but a good friend has one.

Josephine is one we have mentioned and do like but not got that feeling with it.

Love Laurence, but Hugh and Laurie??!!

Love Penelope (DH does a bad Vince impression from Just Good Friends when I suggest that one).

Have a friend with a Ned and Fred and Ned? Edward would have to be Woody which I like but DH thinks is silly with our surname (also W).

It is soooooooo hard when you are choosing anything other than DC1 - too many angles to think about.

Hugh, Fred and Laurie is ok - you're over thinking that one Grin

Penelope couldbe Nell or Penny

Ned wouldn't be my choice as a wee 'ned' in Scotland is a gadgie/chav/scumbag

I have 3 DDs and it became increasingly difficult with each one!

YougreatPumpkinmousse · 01/11/2011 21:39

The first 2 names that came to mind when I read the title were George and Matilda (Matty/Tilly).

YougreatPumpkinmousse · 01/11/2011 21:41

Aah Just spotted the George problem, What about James (Jimmy)?

spotty26 · 01/11/2011 21:41

I like Penelope, Nell or Penny. Good Good.
