Sorry not my cup of tea...

slovenlydotcom · 01/11/2011 20:05

love it

baskingseals · 01/11/2011 20:09

really really like it
it's dd's middle name - sort of regret it not being her first name.

Towndon · 01/11/2011 20:11

I like it.

NormanTheForeman · 01/11/2011 20:13

Lovely name. And not overly popular at the moment, so you wouldn't end up with 4 of them in the same class.

Northernlurker · 01/11/2011 20:18

I have one and I think it's fantastic. It's not often used at all either. I've met one other dc in 13 years! BUT some people hate it. Montsti's reaction is not at all uncommon. That doesn't bother me but for some reason it is a name people feel strongly about.

smellimelli · 01/11/2011 20:54

I loved this name and was considering this for DD1 but then that awful Miranda came on TV and it put me right off!

Violet5 · 01/11/2011 22:48

Love the name Miranda, if our son had been a daughter that's the name we had chosen. I have another daughter called Imogen though so was quite liking the idea of following the Shakespeare theme. Lot's of people pulled faces when we told them but each to their own Smile

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 02/11/2011 01:38

It's pretty. Suits a child as well as an adult. Not faddy, but very enduring instead. Won't date.

Feel like I've just written a report card. Grin

Northernlurker - sorry wasn't meaning to offend. I don't dislike the name Miranda just not a name I would choose, but having read most of these name threads I know what the reaction to my DS's name and my next baby will be - far too popular/common!

Northernlurker · 02/11/2011 08:16

Monsti - not at all offended. Just wanted to point out to the OP that some people really don't like it Hmm Grin

Violet - good taste! I have a Shakespearean theme too - Rosalind and Beatrice are my others.

Montsti · 02/11/2011 08:21

Btw - love Beatrice!

Violet5 · 02/11/2011 11:11

Thank you Northernlurker, i am also a 'Northernlurker', in that i'm Northern but living down South, love your names Smile

secretcodes · 02/11/2011 11:27

LOVE IT!

birdofthenorth · 02/11/2011 11:49

Like Miranda but think it has a lack of nicknames really. Randy is awful and I'm not sure what you can do with the Mir bit? Lovely name in full but not much to play with IYSWIM

3isamagicnumber · 02/11/2011 14:55

Not a massive fan - prefer Matilda or Martha.

Ephiny · 02/11/2011 15:54

I like Miranda a lot. Though it is a bit of a 'big' name for a little girl and not the best for nicknames (Mirrie?).

Love the idea of a Shakespeare theme!

Northernlurker · 02/11/2011 16:03

My younger two always called ours 'Mandaaaaaa' when they were learning to talk so we use that a bit and her friends call her Mandy sometimes - which I loathe!

ceeceeanne · 04/11/2011 08:18

Agree with lack of nickname but LOVE Miranda. Have not got good response when I've told people. A lot are put off by sitcom but doesn't put me off at, makes no difference. What about just Mirra for nn? Or Mirran
