Zil-a/Zil-ah/Zil-uh if that makes sense.

It sounds to me like a maid's name from the Deep South. But maybe I've just read The Help too recently.

wellwisher · 31/10/2011 21:54

Also makes me think of Godzilla!

EdithWeston · 31/10/2011 21:54

I think it is an absolutely fantastic name.

But I think the film Godzilla has probably made it too tricky to use, which is a pity.

Queenofthehill · 31/10/2011 21:56

Might be just me but made me think instantly of Godzilla and Bridezilla Hmm

Queenofthehill · 31/10/2011 21:57

Ah, not just me. X post, slow typing.

UnDeadDolly · 31/10/2011 21:58

Welcome to the band, Zingzilla [hgrin]

peggyblackett · 31/10/2011 22:00

Love it. I knew a Zillah - she was very tall, blonde and willowy.

jasonlovesme · 31/10/2011 22:00

It is a hebrew name means Shadow I think - she was the wife of Lamech.
And also a character in Wuthering heights and in Lark rise to Candleford.

That was DPs thing about it the whole Godzilla thing.

WestsAwake · 31/10/2011 22:01

I did think Zingzillas

But its nice, actually. Could grow on me.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 31/10/2011 22:05

I would first think of the ZingZilla's then of a particularly difficult patient that I once treated.

It would be a no from me.

Fixture · 31/10/2011 22:53

Godzilla for me too I'm afraid.

How about Zilpah?

AuraofDora · 31/10/2011 22:55

not if your surname is Black..

DessieLou · 31/10/2011 23:23

A big no from me, I'm afraid.
How about Zara, Ziva, Zuri (mean beautiful)?

chickflit · 31/10/2011 23:30

We used to have a blonde afghan hound called Zillah - happy memories.

But of absolutely no help to you OP. Grin

BrokenRing · 01/11/2011 10:11

Zillah Bell Art Gallery

Cool name.

Annanymous · 01/11/2011 10:12

Is it for a girl, a boy or a dog? I think it's okay for a dog.

jasonlovesme · 01/11/2011 10:12

I thought Zuri was a boys name?
Zara is a bit to popular - well at least with DSs name
Ziva i actually like reminds me of the woman in NCIS
Zilpah I like as well.
Hmmmmm

I like it and Ziva (with you on the NCIS lady)

DessieLou · 01/11/2011 10:58

I was watching NCIS when I posted! I really like the name, may actually stick it on my list. The only Zuri's I've heard of have been female, it means beautiful in Swahili apparantly. Ziva gets my vote! Good luck deciding. Smile

MamaLazarou · 01/11/2011 13:58

lovely name, unfortunately rendered unusable due to Godzilla and Zingzillas.

lessthanaweeknow · 01/11/2011 14:07

Zuri to me reminds me of Tzuri (DDads name) but that may just be me. But I still like it

Ziva is lovely means light/brightness.

Zillah is a lovely name except Lamech (this one) is a decendent of Cain - but if you just like unusual names and this one just happens to be hebrew don't let that put you off

Zilpah is lovely - she was leahs handmaiden and a 'wife' of Jacob. But as names go I prefer Zillah and then Ziva

birdofthenorth · 01/11/2011 15:12

Godzilla, Bridezilla, Zingzillas or me too, sorry.

I know a very cute Zia?
