our current favourites for new baby. any opinions would be appreciated. DD1 is Beatrice. also one of the girls names is my middle name but i love it and always wished it was my first name, do you think this matters? don't want to sound like i'm a bit full of myself. thanks in advance Brew

Elizabeth and Henry

WitchesBroomForMyChin · 30/10/2011 16:18

My DD is Elizabeth Anna so I think both those names are great Grin. I prefer Henry to Arthur.

DessieLou · 30/10/2011 16:19

I love Elizabeth (my middle name!) so that gets my vote. How about Elizabeth Ann/e Surname? I prefer Henry of your boy choices. How about George, Nicholas, Rupert?
Beatrice is a beautiful name...can I steal it?! Grin

CurwySwide · 30/10/2011 16:41

Elizabeth and Arthur, though Henry comes a very close second for a boy.

Montsti · 30/10/2011 18:09

Elizabeth and Henry!

kando · 30/10/2011 18:11

DD3 is Elizabeth - I think Elizabeth Anna is very pretty. Not too keen on either choice for boys name but think Henry is ever so slightly better than Arthur.

Anna and Henry

MorallyBankrupt · 30/10/2011 19:50

There are 12 Henrys on my road Shock there are only about 30 houses!

I think Henry is one of those names which shouts 'total lack of imagination'....

Arthur is much better!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 30/10/2011 19:51

Anna and Henry.

scarevola · 30/10/2011 19:52

Lovely names!

Hard to choose between the girls, but I'd probably go for Elizabeth. Henry for a boy.

mumofbumblebea · 30/10/2011 21:43

thanks for the advice so far!
i agree that there are quite a few Henry's about but i don't actually know many (it's all about Harry round here). DP likes Arthur but it does seem to be a very "now" name so not sure if it might date? does anyone have any thoughts about whether it matters that one of the girls names is my middle name (hopefully not as no one has mentioned it...)

Arthur is awesome (was on our shortlist before we found out we were hvaing a girl, in fact was going to be middle name as it's my family's traditional name but we loved it so much we bumped it up)

Not sure between Anna and Elizabeth, they're both sweet but I don't LOVE either...although I do think Libby is a cool nn so prob Elizabeth (but hate Liz)

missmiss · 30/10/2011 22:41

Elizabeth and Henry. I love Arthur but I think it is quite now in a way that Henry isn't.

NadiaWadia · 31/10/2011 00:37

Anna and Henry

Northernrose · 31/10/2011 07:04

I don't think using one of your middle names as a first name is a problem at all! Actually think it's a nice idea especially if you have always loved the name.
Prefer Anna to Elizabeth mainly because I don't like the liz/lizzie nicknames for Elizabeth but do love Beth/Libby. Prefer Arthur to Henry too...I don't think of it as that trendy because I know some of all ages but know of quite a few Henrys under 3.

Kayzr · 31/10/2011 07:05

Elizabeth and Henry Smile

mumofbumblebea · 31/10/2011 08:24

NorthernRose we would use Beth as a nn for Elizabeth so we would have Bea and Beth.

i'm not sure about Arthur now after realising with it might not be the best name with our surname (think Arthur Sword - half a sword - not actual surname but very similiar!). still adore the name tho :(

Anna and Arthur

hanahsaunt · 31/10/2011 12:30

We have an Anna (Annie) Elizabeth - clearly it's a great name Grin. Prefer Arthur to Henry.

Kaekae · 31/10/2011 12:43

Elizabeth is my DDs middle name so that gets my vote, I also think it is much stronger with some lovely NNs such as Eliza/Beth.
I like Arthur over Henry, there are so many Henry's around right now. Arthur would go lovely with your daughters name.

AAAvegetable · 31/10/2011 21:51

I love Anna nn Annie. Elizabeth is nice but I don't like Liz or Lizzie so would not want to risk it (you can't be sure Beth would stick as the nn).

I like Arthur and Henry. Arthur is more unusual so I would probably chose Arthur.

muffinino82 · 02/11/2011 11:32

Anna and Arthur. I like the other names, especially Henry, but I love Arthur.

cherrysodalover · 02/11/2011 11:46

Love-Arthur.have not met one at all but a few celebs have used it which means it will start to trickle down!

pilates · 02/11/2011 21:31

Elizabeth and Henry, great names.

Lovely to use your middle name too.

proudfoot · 02/11/2011 23:28

I love all of them - you have great taste! I would lean more towards Anna and Henry but can't go wrong with any of them, absolutely lovely.
