Depends. Is the girl a parrot? Grin

ThoseClementineShoes · 28/10/2011 17:38

The parrot in those Enid Blyton books and the hairdresser in the latest Maeve Binchy book. Not unworkable I think, but yes a bit out there.

I'm usually not a militant Sunday name fighter but perhaps might be the compromise here.

SnakeOnCrack · 28/10/2011 17:39

Ah... I think some gentle persuasion (of the "hellll noo") variety is needed here.

LydiaWickham · 28/10/2011 17:40

as in Kiki Dee? Her real name is Pauline...

Kiki could be a cute nickname for something sane , will have a think...

LovingChristmas · 28/10/2011 17:40

I know a Kimi - which I wasn't sure of, until I heard it's Japanese for her of no equal!

EdithWeston · 28/10/2011 17:42

Fab as a nn, not so sure as a full name.

Wasn't she the cat in Hector's House?

LydiaWickham · 28/10/2011 17:43

ok, just did a bit of a search to see what it could be a nickname for, it seems in the Philippines it's the nickname for a mans bits. A bit like calling your DD 'Willy', but as long as you don't go to the Phillippines, it should be ok, however would this piece of information help you win the arguement with your DH? Grin

TeacupTempest · 28/10/2011 17:50

Ah!!! Not so good. I just informed DH and he almost choked. He is now looking rather dejected. . .

RefereezaWanka · 28/10/2011 17:54

Cute as a nickname, but not as a proper given name.

NaughtyBusterAndTheBumFactory · 28/10/2011 17:56

I think it's Janine's (in RL obviously) daughter's name

ChippingInToThePumpkinLantern · 28/10/2011 18:00

That must be a relief!!

DoesBuggerAll · 28/10/2011 18:04

Don't go to France with a name like that. It's children's slang for vagina.

roz1982 · 28/10/2011 18:14

I like it.

TeacupTempest · 28/10/2011 18:15

Ok far too many connections to genitalia - tis off the list!

OP posts:
SheCutOffTheirTails · 28/10/2011 18:17

So whenever your DH suggests a name you don't like, just tell him it is slang for penis or vagina in another country.

Which, if the country is Scotland, will almost certainly be true.

susiedaisy · 28/10/2011 18:21

it would have to be a nick name only in my house, sweet but silly, imo

LydiaWickham · 28/10/2011 18:24

Yes, I do think I might add "could this name be slang for genitalia of either variety" to my name selection criteria.

morethemerrier · 28/10/2011 22:14

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/10/2011 22:30
