Middle name for Ursula?

I actually cannot believe my husband and I might have settled on a girl name. We do not agree on girl names at all but the one and only name we have always loved together, unreservedly, is Ursula. We like Ada and Clara too but they just don't quite cut it enough for me to use. The only other contender is Octavia.

Can you please choose the middle name you like best with Ursula? These names are non-negotiable as they are very dear family names and have been hand-picked with much care and love.

The middle names are ranked in order of importance for us but I'd like to know which you like best!

Ursula Audrey (our top contender)
Ursula Alice
Ursula Audrey Alice (she'd have five names though. Methinks no)
Ursula Pearl
Ursula Jane
Ursula Juno (very much the last choice as it's a nod to the myriad J names in our immediate family - Jane, June, Jan, Joan, Janice and Jean)

I adore Ursula - fab name, and also one of the few that dh and I both like!
Ursula Pearl is my favourite, followed by Ursula Jane.

Montsti · 28/10/2011 11:46

Ursula Alice is my favourite but I much prefer Octavia for a first name, in fact love it!

dearheart · 28/10/2011 11:49

I like Ursula Clare. Urusla Jane or Ursula Juno are also good. It's hard to get your tongue around an mn starting with A after the final a of Ursula, so I would avoid.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 28/10/2011 11:51

I love Urslua too
I'd go with your top contender. Audrey's a lovely name too and although the two together don't roll of the tongue that easily, your DC would hardly ever use them together but would know her middle name means something very special

I like Ursula Alice and Ursula Jane, although it has just occured to me after reading Caipirinhas post that I'm not particularly bothered by how a name goes together either, I just stacked up the names I wanted to use, checked the initials didn't spell TWAT and went for it.

Ephiny · 28/10/2011 12:10

I like Ursula Jane, I think a short middle name sounds better with the longer furst name. Agree though that it doesn't matter too much, she won't often use them together. What about Ursula Clara?

I love Ursula, sadly DP has vetoed it for us, though I may persuade him on Leona!

CaipirinhasAllRound · 28/10/2011 12:11

surgeonsmate LOL [grin}

CaipirinhasAllRound · 28/10/2011 12:12

oops meant Grin

Ephiny · 28/10/2011 12:12

(sorry first name not furst, clearly I'm thinking of bears :))

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 28/10/2011 12:14

I love Ursula but DH doesn't. Then again he hated all of my names Hmm. I'll offer my favourite of Mary again :) Ursula Mary.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 28/10/2011 12:14

Oh sorry, completely ignored your list Blush

Ursula Jane definitely

missmiss · 28/10/2011 12:15

My mum is Ursula Jean :)

spookygarlic · 28/10/2011 12:20

Marie - I think Ursula Marie sounds lovely.

spookygarlic · 28/10/2011 12:20

From your list, Ursula Jane is my favourite.

Psammead · 28/10/2011 13:54

I think Ursula Audrey is fine, especially as it's top of your list.

persephoneplum · 28/10/2011 23:22

Thanks so much for your feedback - what a nice forum this is! Have had a lot of negativity towards Ursula from other people but we love it and think it's a great name for a person we love, so that's what matters.

I adore Ursula. Sadly DH didn't.

From your list Ursula Jane works the best - it balances out the 'fussiness' (I don't mean that in a negative way) of Ursula.

Ursula Alice and Ursula Audrey run into each other - can you keep Alice and Audrey for another DD?

Ursula Pearl has a very vintage feel but I do find the two a bit difficult to say together. Maybe it's just me. Also, I think Pearl may go the same way as Grace and Rose and be the next filler mn.

Not keen on Juno and it's at the bottom of your list too so I would discount this one.

Ursula Jane all the way.

Good luck.

MrsJWelsh · 29/10/2011 15:55

I like Ursula Audrey best!

mathanxiety · 29/10/2011 22:40

Ursula Audrey -- the names are too far apart stylistically and linguistically imo
Ursula Alice -- ok
Ursula Audrey Alice -- nah, especially if she would end up with 5 names
Ursula Pearl -- too much of the urr sound
Ursula Jane -- Jane is a bit pat and prim beside Ursula
Ursula Juno my favourite. Has the Latin connection, the U in common, two very stylish names. Please pick Ursula Juno it's fab.

frutilla · 29/10/2011 22:42

Ursula Jane or Ursula Alice
Octavia Jane is my fave.

MegBusset · 29/10/2011 23:09

I love both Ursula and Audrey but not together.

Ursula Jane works best from your list imo.

HauntedHengshanRoad · 30/10/2011 17:33

There is nothing pretty about Ursula. It has such an unpleasant sound and look. And it means "bear"...

mathanxiety · 30/10/2011 18:07

Oh I disagree -- I find it very appealing in a Scandinavian sort of way.

LaydeeC · 30/10/2011 22:52

my sis is Ursula Bridget - from your list I really like Ursula Jane (Jane is my dtr's mn).
Confused by the comments that Ursula is an ugly name - I think 'tis a fabulous strong name
