Hotel in Liverpool, was on a really bad TV series...sorry!

TonksmarriedaWerewolf · 25/10/2011 17:49

We had a building called that at Uni.

ScaredtheDeesusOutofMe · 25/10/2011 17:50

Never heard that used as a person's name before. My first thought was there's a pub near me called the Adelphi...and isn't it the name of a theatre...?

going · 25/10/2011 17:50

Seems like it's a boys name. Makes me think of a theatre or hotel.

ScaredtheDeesusOutofMe · 25/10/2011 17:51

xpost with havingAnOffDay

It's the hotel I was thinking of!

Rollon2012 · 25/10/2011 17:58

Oh dear lol maybe a bad choice

I think of it as a theatre. Why not just drop the A and go for Delphi or Delphine or even Delphina?

breatheslowly · 25/10/2011 18:53

Theatre. Or a bit too much like Adolf.

Greenwing · 25/10/2011 19:56

Definitely a theatre.

mathanxiety · 25/10/2011 20:19

Cinema in Dublin.

WitchesBroomForMyChin · 25/10/2011 20:21

Was a very grungy/scruffy club where I went to uni.

GetOrfMo1Land · 25/10/2011 20:26

I really like it, however due to the connotations of pubs etc it may be better to go for Delphi.

Rollon2012 · 25/10/2011 21:31

hmmm Delphi is interesting

OP posts:
RickGhastley · 25/10/2011 21:39

Delphi is very very nice.

Adelphi is a Liverpool theatre/hotel.

meditrina · 25/10/2011 21:47

The Adelphi is a theatre. If you're really unlucky, people might take it as a place of conception name...

Delphine, on the other hand, is lovely. And the "dolphin" playground nn isn't inevitable or necessarily durable.

Panzee · 25/10/2011 21:51

Delphine Donkey might be though. EEAW! (sorry) :o

chipmonkey · 25/10/2011 22:59

Scruffy cinema in Dublin which closed down when newer, more modern cinemas came in.

BustersOfDoom · 25/10/2011 23:14

Office block in central London, a hotel in Liverpool and a pub in most cities.

MooncupGoddess · 25/10/2011 23:16

Adelphi means 'brothers' in Greek - that's where the original Adelphi in London comes from (built by the Adam brothers). So, very odd choice for a girl.

Fixture · 26/10/2011 00:25

A theatre.

How about Adele, or Delphine?

HerdOfTinyElephants · 26/10/2011 00:30

Delphi/Delphine/Adele are all fine (Delphi a little off-the-wall, but that's not necessarily a bad thing).

Adelphi is a theatre or a hotel. Or a pub, at a push.
