Just wondering how you'd say Ffion? DP was looking at Welsh baby names as he's welsh and he likes this but I'm not sure how to say it or if it would work in Yorkshire.

My friend's dd pronounces it: Feeon.

Fee - on.
Its very popular currently in Wales, usually the top Welsh name in our top 100 x

Fee-on and I am nowhere near Wales :) It's a 'usual' name IYSWIM, not strange to me.

I liked it when I was pregnant, but hubby said it sounds like the noise of a racing car whizzing past!

I wanted Ffion. Maybe next time!

Fee-on is close, Fi-Yon would be closer to how it sounds in my head, there sounds like there's almost a Y in it where the syllables meet.

The minute I hit send I thought I should have just said...

Same as you pronounce Leon but with an F.

Yes, that's a better explanation. Sorry.

LadyInPink · 21/10/2011 18:58

YY Saffron I say it more like Fee-Yawn to rhyme with Siobhan.

Fee-on. I'm a Welsh speaker and want to write it as Ffee-on :o
