I heard a child called it yesterday. I thought it soundly vaguely dirty. But I'm probably being quite mean so do feel free to shout me down. What do you think?

It sounds a bit non-British, perhaps.

I am not keen on it - minky or minger spring to mind. But if it's a foreign name then that's a bit different, isn't it?

Or maybe it's a nickname.

I certainly haven't heard it before.

Could it have been Nienke (pronounced Ninka)? It's a common Dutch name.

Accents didn't sound non-Brit, but you may well be correct. I could have misheard it. I hope so, Nienke is prettier than Minka Smile

Sounds german to me. I know a Tinka, short for Katinka.
