Wouldn't use any of the others but love that one

comedaygoday · 20/10/2011 17:37

1 Luke - simple and.classic is always the best.
2 Lucas - ok if a bit faddy.
3 Louis - I think people will be unsure whether to pronounce it Louie or Lewis.
4 Lewis - very faddy, too surnamey, don't like.

JamieComeHome · 20/10/2011 17:39
  1. Luke

  2. Louis

My current favourite is Luke. Dp loves Lewis, which bar Louis is my least favourite. I do like them all but I have an issue with the constant spelling of Lewis/Louis

  1. Luke - simple and.classic is always the best.
  2. Lewis - Scottish island, quite like
  3. Louis - not keen, sounds weak
  4. Lucas - quite effeminate and much fussier than Luke
OliviaMumsnet · 20/10/2011 19:48

Louis (pron Loooouie) Was on shortlist for DS2
Luke also good.

girliefriend · 20/10/2011 19:50

I don't like Luke or Lucus as sounds like puke (I know that is ridiculous but thats what I think when I hear the name.)

I like Louis Smile

babybumblebeee · 20/10/2011 19:51

Luke = Puke
Lucas = Mucus

NoVeggiesBeforeSkeggies · 20/10/2011 19:54

Louis (pronounced Louie) my very favourite.

Lucas nice too.

mogandthecat · 20/10/2011 20:58

Luke, definitely.

Not keen on others - Lucas v trendy and always reminds me of mucus; Louis again trendy, will have to keep correcting the pronounciation and bit poncey if you are not French.

ThePathanKhansWoman · 20/10/2011 21:00

Luca

CobOnTheCorn · 20/10/2011 21:04

I think Louis is lovely (Louis Armstrong, Louis De Bernieres etc), Lewis is (I think) essentially the same name but anglicised.

Luke is too biblical for me.

Lucas is nice but now I have associated it with mucas...

Quenelle · 21/10/2011 12:04

Use the German spelling: Louie to avoid pronunciation issues.

Lucus. Can call child Lucas or nn Luke.

Montsti · 21/10/2011 12:14

I like all bar Lewis, but agree with some of the others that Luke and Lucas remind me of puke and mucus...not sure about Louis - some days I love it and others find it a bit yuck..

What about Luca?

marsiay · 21/10/2011 12:44

Lucas

I love this name

WaftyCrank · 21/10/2011 16:21

Love Luke, I wanted it for DS but it's DP's name so it's DS's middle name.

I like Lewis and Lucas is ok. Louis is nice but I prefer Louie.

HelloShitty · 21/10/2011 16:27

I have a Louis, and still love the name. But you have to get used to people constantly mispronouncing it as Lewis (which I hate due to a neverending supply of frigging awful Lewises in the school where I teach). Strange how an ess on the end can change it so much.
