Opinions on this name? I think it's pretty and feminine, but does it scream Clan of the Cave Bear?

Is it not just Isla with a different spelling?

Fishpants · 19/10/2011 14:41

No it's pronounced with the long A sound rather than I.

I think its great, pretty and cute

Youremindmeofthebabe · 19/10/2011 15:00

I like it too, it has crossed my mind as well.

DELHI · 19/10/2011 15:19

sorry, I don't like it - its a 'something and nothing' sort of name I think. Is it short for something?

demonicma · 19/10/2011 20:58

as long as she doesn't have a brother called Jondalar you'll be ok

MrsOzz · 19/10/2011 22:59

No then. Makes me think if beer (ale).

Lonnie · 20/10/2011 12:59

I love it it was on our shortlist for dd1 I think it is beautiful and yes it is a connective to the earth children series but thats not a bad thing Ayla was a strong person

mogandthecat · 20/10/2011 20:56

I think there will be pronounciation confusion as I have heard of it being used and pronounced like Isla - though personally think it should be pronounced Ai-la. Not a huge fan, and have not read the clan of the cave bear books, but if it is used as a tribute to the books it would be nice as would have some meaning.

Rhubarbgarden · 20/10/2011 21:09

A bit bland.

AlpinePony · 20/10/2011 21:22

I too would pronounce it isla.

halecromp · 21/10/2011 14:15

I love Ayla, suggested it to my dh but he said no x

Moomim · 21/10/2011 22:17

I like it, but wonder if partially because I liked the earth's children books so much?
