Jude for a boy?

It's been really difficult coming up with boy's names, but DH and I have finally agreed that we really like Jude. I'm in Scotland and it's not really that popular up here, at least I think it isn't.

What do you think? Love? Hate? Indifferent?

I like, but DH vetoed.

I like it a lot. I think it is fairly popular - I know a few - but not hugely so. I'm in Scotland too.

My friend has a Jude, which really suits him. I was a bit put off it by Jude the Obscure, but if you love it go for it!

Psammead · 14/10/2011 20:12

I think it's fine.

I'd be a little put-off personally by the fact that to me at least it sounds a bit feminine, but I know it isn't!

So, yeah, I wouldn't choose it, but it's perfectly fine.

cece · 14/10/2011 20:17

Sorry but to me it sounds like a girls name. Having said that I think I am in the minority as it seems to be getting popular...

gastonscave · 14/10/2011 20:17

I know the most adorable Jude, it's such a lovely name

LetThereBeRock · 14/10/2011 20:18

I hate it. It has a horrible sound imho.

Lilyloo · 14/10/2011 20:19

I like it

PipFEH · 14/10/2011 21:26

I have a Jude! No regrets at all. We did try to choose something that wasn't mainstream, only for it to edge into the top 100 the following year but hey ho, it still suits him immensely! And subsequent children called Scarlett and Alex so we gave up on trying to be different and got more popular as we've gone along :). My sister in law did try to call him Judy once and was swiftly told not to - the only person who did. We call him Judo as a nn.

RightUpMyRue · 14/10/2011 21:28

Like it mucho.

Allboxedin · 14/10/2011 21:29

I knew a Jude, he was Nigerian I think, maybe more common amongst Africans as it's a biblical name. I actually like it for a boy but not for a girl.

serin · 14/10/2011 21:30

Lovely.

MayDayChild · 14/10/2011 21:32

Not since he hit DD in the playground. Little shit pickle

Bit popular in our middle class arena, about six at the churchy Playgrp I go to.

comedaygoday · 14/10/2011 21:57

Great name- simple and sounds nice compared to some of the names you hear on these forums.

ShroudOfHamsters · 15/10/2011 09:55

scaevola · 15/10/2011 09:56
