For a boy. Pronounced like Anne with a Y at the front!

Would you spell it Yann or Jan? Do you like it?

Thanks :)

Jan for meSmile ..I blame the Killing - Jan MeyerGrin

...and yes, it's lovely!

Jan - it's a variant of John. Not sure Yann is a normal spelling at all? In the Czech Rep, Jans are almost always called Honza, which is cute, but perplexing for a foreigner :o

Yann is a Breton variant afaik. Like it!

Pronounced "Janne" like Anne? HmmWink

Not in Benelux it's not!

Anyway, I would write it as Jan.

Jan, never heard of it spelt like Yann looks like someone heard the name and then mispelt it.

mistlethrush · 11/10/2011 15:13

I know a Julian who is called Jan ('Yan') which I think is quite a good option.

KatAndKit · 11/10/2011 15:24

Depends where you come from. To me, Yann is a Breton name and is pronounced like Anne with Y. Jan is more Dutch sounding to me and would have a longer vowel sound.

babybumblebeee · 12/10/2011 09:40

Jan. Yann looks creative.

I use to know a Yan but he was Yanni (and came from a greek cypriot family) so purely because he was lovely Yann
