Stevie - nickname for anything except Stephanie?

Inspired by the "sunday name" thread for Billie below...
I've always liked the name Stevie for a girl (and Stevie Smith-- Nicks, not so much), but really don't like Stephanie. Any other ideas?

I kn ow a baby Stevie who is just Stevie, it isn't short for anything

greenzebra · 10/10/2011 15:07

Stevia its a type of plant/flower in the aster family.

I agree though Stevie is great by itself.

FairyArmadillo · 10/10/2011 16:41

I've heard of baby/little girl Stevies inspired by Stevie Smith (I love her poetry) and Stevie Nicks (I love her too!). Why not just Stevie?

I'm just one of those people who wants two names (full name and nickname), so Stevie on its own isn't my ideal (no offense scaredbear!)

Would it be a bit naff to have Evelyn? Evie..Stevie...

Fixture · 11/10/2011 00:17

It's short for Stephanie. Having it short for something else could sound contrived. How about Sylvie, Sylvia, Evie?

MelinaM · 11/10/2011 09:39

Stephanie here too.

Hmm... Steffie, Stelle, Stacie ....according to thinkbabynames!

theory · 11/10/2011 09:55

I'm okay with contrived, fixture. (Our first DD's name could be called that-- and probably has been :o ) The Evelyn/Sylvia idea is interesting in that it brings the name and nickname into some kind of phonetic proximity. But I'm not a huge fan of either of those names...

Svetlana (if you don't mind contrived!)

tiptoptally · 11/10/2011 22:08

Severine?

NorkyPies · 11/10/2011 22:14

Etienne is a French form of Steven. It's a boy's name, but in English sounds like a girl's name. A possibility?

Stevana - already a name.

spaghettina · 13/10/2011 11:59

Stefania?
A friend called her DD Stevie on its own, not short for anything.
Or if you want a full name, how about putting it down as a middle name, but using it as her first name?
