Is it too "old womany", or, is it cool? I can't decide. :)

Love ElsieSmile

MelinaM · 09/10/2011 23:51

..old lady chic I'd say!

CointreauVersial · 09/10/2011 23:52

Awww....my lovely Grandma's name. Gorgeous.

workshy · 09/10/2011 23:53

my aunt wanted to name her daughter Elsie after a favourite pretend auntie (her mum's friend) but hubby thought it was too Granny-ish so they went for Elise instead which I think is lovely

crazynannawitchbitch · 09/10/2011 23:53

My nan was Elsie...it's beautiful Smile
She has a grandaughter named Elise....she was really chuffed at that.

startail · 09/10/2011 23:54

LovelySmile

ChineapplePunk · 09/10/2011 23:56

My fav girl name is actually Eloise, however, it does seem to gaining in popularity (not that there is anything wrong with that), therefore, thought Elsie would be a bit more unusual.

Love, love, love Elsie...wish DH did too but was vetoed for me

oohlaalaa · 10/10/2011 09:39

Hate the name. Sorry. I love Elise and Eloise though, softer sounding and much nicer.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 10/10/2011 10:24

I think it's cool. DD1 had a very sweet little friend at nursery called Elsie. However, we gave it to DD2 as a mn and most people were like Hmm

birdofthenorth · 10/10/2011 10:24

Love Elsie, very sweet! Like it as a nn for Elspeth too

minipie · 10/10/2011 11:05

If you prefer Eloise (I do too) then use that. Elsie could become very popular too in which case you'd have compromised on name for no reason!

NotAnotherNewNappy · 10/10/2011 11:06

BON Now I want an Elspeth nn Elsie Envy

winkle2 · 11/10/2011 18:43

Prefer Elsa :)

thruppence · 11/10/2011 18:45

I wanted it but have 2 DS Grin

DrinkYourWeakLemonDrinkNow · 11/10/2011 18:49

Elsa=cool, elegant.

Elsie=Les Dawson impression.

(imho)

iarebaboon · 11/10/2011 19:05

Elsa = ulcer. Bad

PandaG · 11/10/2011 19:08

is becoming more popular - I know 2 4yo Elsies.

Fixture · 11/10/2011 20:29

It's a pretty name, short for Elisabeth.

sweetandtenderhooligan · 11/10/2011 20:48

Beautiful. DS would've been Elsie if he'd been a girl...[wistfull]

LimburgseVlaai · 11/10/2011 20:54

They call her Natasha when she looks like Elsie
I don't want to go to Chelsea

[Elvis Costello song. I'm very old.] FWIW I like the name.

cerealqueen · 12/10/2011 22:32

I love it, DP not so keen (but its on the shortlist just in case)

BonnieWeeJeannieMcCall · 12/10/2011 23:23

I'm even older than you, LimburgseVlaai.

I used to have a girlfriend known as Elsie
With whom I shared two squalid rooms in Chelsea
She wasn't what you'd call a blushing flow-er
As a matter of fact she rented by the hour ...

(Liza Minelli - Cabaret)

KittyWalker · 12/10/2011 23:24

I love it, I would have loved to have called DD2 Elsie but DH said no!

BonnieWeeJeannieMcCall · 12/10/2011 23:24

BTW I like the name, too, but it does make me think of Cabaret.

I think of Elsie to this very day
I remember how she used to laugh and say
Life is a cabaret, my friend.....
