This is our shortlist so far, haven't found anything I really love. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Girls:

Nancy
Elsie
Ivy

Boys:

Ted (I love, DH not so keen but will agree to Edward abbreviated to Ted)
Arthur
Stanley (DH's favourite, I'm not so sure)

We have a Nancy. It's a great name - it really suits her, it is getting more popular - but I don't think we'll be overrun, though - and that might not bother you anyway.

In case we have similar tastes, things on my list were:

Tansy
Pearl
Judy
Mary

We liked Ted/Edward, too. Ended up using it as a mn (not for Nancy, I hasten to add!)

I really like Pearl but my DH is not keen.

He is the hardest man to please when it comes to names, his answer to Nancy was 'a bloke at my work, he had a granny, she's dead now but she was called Nancy, and she was bald, so I don't like Nancy'. WHAT?!

I like Nancy. One of my close friends has a DD Mary so can't use that one.

Like your boy names but not the girls, sorry.

HoldTouchEngage · 29/09/2011 20:43

Elsie - my OH would not allow it though :-(

Boys? I'm loving Ted or Arthur

Have you considered

Alice

LOVE Tansy, btw. Wish I was brave enough.

I like Ted as nn for Edward. Don't like Arthur or Stanlet.

Not terribly fond of the girls' names, as they are all a bit 'hard' sounding. How about Elise, which I think is much prettier than Elsie? Or Eloise?

Margeret/Meg?
Catherine/Kitty?
Posy?
Miranda/Mimi/Merry?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/09/2011 22:27

Stanlet? :)

Boys' names -

Laurie as nn for Laurence
Terence
Timothy

I would go with Edward nn Ted. Can't choose a girl's name as none of them are my cup of tea.

MarkStretch · 30/09/2011 16:16

Thanks for your opinions everyone, weirdly enough someone mentioned my name and my dads name..

I forgot we also had Rory on the list and Betsy and Audrey for girls. Still nothing grabbing me, but I heard someone called Fraser today and quite liked that. Bet DH won't! Grin
