Both lovely, Dara my favourite :)

Toobluntforboss · 29/09/2011 16:50

Love both although prefer Dara spelt Darragh.

MmePamplemousse · 29/09/2011 17:01

There are lots of Gabriels near us. I'd go for Dara. But not spelt Darragh (sorry Toobluntforboss)!

ForYourDreamsAreChina · 29/09/2011 17:03

Dara. Because I loooooove him. Grin

Meteorite · 29/09/2011 17:35

I'd go for Gabriel. I know Dara is a boys' name but it still sounds too feminine, like Lara/Cara/Sara.

That's no bad thing :)

ChrissyHynde · 29/09/2011 18:13

Dara is great not keen on Gabriel

vess · 29/09/2011 18:20

If you spell it Dara it looks like a girl's name. In fact, it IS a girl's name.

DigOfTheStump · 29/09/2011 20:27

Dara - Gabriel is very now and not very nice. A bit too angelic for a boy.

HoldTouchEngage · 29/09/2011 20:40

Gabriel - although obviously biased! Grin

Dara i'd never thought of until i read this post - but it's a grower!

Gabriel may be popular in some areas but i've only ever met two!

thisisyesterday · 29/09/2011 20:42

i was going to say the same as Vess... thought Dara (to rhyme with Tara) was a girls name

have never seen it as an alternative spelling to Darragh

personally i prefer Gabriel, but then I am slightly biased!

LetThereBeRock · 29/09/2011 20:55

Definitely Gabriel.

GobbyCah · 29/09/2011 21:04

It is Irish and definitely a boy's name. Darragh is a variation.

Gabriel is nice but much more popular. Lots of little Gabriels with bowl haircuts running around norf London these days.

seanbonbon · 29/09/2011 21:10

Sorry lads, Dara is the correct spelling of the Irish boy's name- Darragh is the english spelling- the girls name is Daire.

I'm Irish and this is according to my SIL who's an Irish teacher. (I checked with her before calling my son Dara).

Love the name and no one has ever connected it to Dara O'Briain, though that wouldn't be a bad thing for me either. Smile

no need for the sighs! i was just saying i'd never come across it as a boys name.

FairyArmadillo · 29/09/2011 21:13

Gabriel

wigglesrock · 29/09/2011 21:13

I really like both, if it matters I'm in NI and Dara is really popular at the minute, I know 5 under 3.
