Noticed a baby (boy) at baby group we attend with this name. Is this a bona fide (Eastern European?) name or a mis-spelling of Oscar?

I suspect the latter!

I met a woman called Oska, so I presumed it was the feminine version of Oscar. She was American but looked like she was of Scandinavian origin.

I had a google. There is a widely used European variant spelling, Oskar.

Oska does however appear to be an unusual Finnish variant.

Are the family Scandewegian?

As in a hybrid of Scandinavian and Glaswegian? Neither - only saw child's name sticker from other side of room, though parents appeared to be from Barnsley.

Just wondered as Oscar such a well known name would be hard to get it wrong! Perhaps will give benefit of doubt...
