Tom and Dominic...

We have a Tom. Would it be ridiculous to name DC2 Dominic? It's the only name we like after months of consideration but really not sure that it's an option!

Are you serious - Tom and Dom Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 24/09/2011 07:21

Well DS is a Dominic, so would say it's a great name. Grin

But he does hang around with a Tom sometimes and Tom and Dom does get a bit muddled...

muzmum · 04/10/2011 12:28

My brothers are called Tom and Dominic and it's never caused any amusement. It probably helps that no one calls Dominic DOM.

MelinaM · 04/10/2011 13:54

Yes, Tom is a lovely nameSmile Dominic is not, and the nn Dom is ridiculous.

chocjunkie · 04/10/2011 13:57

I would not... Tom and Dom (don't most Dominics end up as Doms) Hmm

SherbetDibDab · 04/10/2011 13:59

Demonic

tammytoby · 04/10/2011 14:17

Is this a wind up - Tom and Dom Grin?

BikeRunSki · 04/10/2011 14:21

I like Dominic, but probably best to nn this one Nick than Dom!

rachel234 · 04/10/2011 15:20

I agree - Dominic and Tom are too close, as Dominic might end up as Dom.

If you prefer Nick and Tom, then name him Nicholas imo.

Meteorite · 04/10/2011 16:07

Tom and Dom sounds fine to me!

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 04/10/2011 17:53

Both great names, but personally not a big fan of Dom as a nn. Would you be more likely to nn him Nic and in which case maybe call him Nicholas instead iyswim.

BikeRunSki · 04/10/2011 18:15

But Nick is as legitimate a NN of Dominic as Dom is surely?
(Like Charlotte can be Charlie or Lottie)

I know a Dominic nn Nicky, Christopher nn Topher and a Timothy nn Mothy.

notnowImreading · 04/10/2011 18:27

I have 3 brothers - two are Tom and Dominic. It's fine in general but means that the family usually use Dominic's full name to save confusion while his friends all call him Dom and think we're odd.

YouDoTheMath · 04/10/2011 21:32

I know brothers who are Thomas and Dominic. There are five brothers altogether though so I don't know if that makes it more "acceptable".

Do what you want, anyway - stuff what anyone else thinks.

DesertOrchid · 04/10/2011 21:43

Love the name Dominic. I say call him Nic for short or stick with the full name.
