I'd be grateful for opinions on the name Ivan for ds3 who is due on Christmas Day.

Other sons are Daniel and Roman

I've had such a hard time finding names I like for this one. We had the following on our list but I don't love any of them:

Peter
Henry
Noah
Aaron

Apparently Ivan is a variant of John and means "God is gracious" and it has been growing on me

Any ideas for other names I might like gratefully received too

I'm in Scotland so maybe I'm biased but I think Ivan is lovely -really strong and unique name. I know a nice Ivan.

I know a teenage Ivan, not remotely Russian. It really suits him and is pretty cool :)

I think it sounds nice with your other DSs names, and like it more than your other choices.

Used to live with (not in the biblical sense) an Ivan. I think its quite good actually.

Tho' looking at your other names, not sure it goes with Roman. Or is too similar in a "another country" kind of way. Which then leaves Daniel kind of hanging as a "normal" name.

Out of your list I really like Noah.

Ieuan - is that the Welsh name pronounced "yiyan" (approximately?).

Vanya is a variant of Ivan. I have a Ukrainian friend who is known as Vanya.

I personally prefer Ieuan over Ivan but I have Welsh connections

A boy named Ivan punched me on the nose and made it bleed when I was 5 .
I think he's in prison now . So , sorry I don't like it .

I really like Ivan - it's not a name I have ever really thought about, but it is really nice, strong, not too popular. Go for it!

Also like Henry and Noah is okay, but Ivan is great.

It's not a name I particularly like (sorry), but it's a perfectly good choice.

Unless your surname is also a common noun beginning with a vowel.

My father's name- I always wanted him to be called by an ordinary English name.
