What do you think? I and OH really like it, the only thing that turns me off, is that although it is unisex, you don't see it very often for boys anymore. This is the only thing that turns me off about it.

I know a lovely little 2-year-old boy called Robin (the only Robin I've met!). To be honest I don't hear of it being used very often for boys or girls, but I don't automatically think of it as a girl's name.

If you love it, use it :)

rachel234 · 22/09/2011 10:53

I think it is lovely and know a 7 year old Robin.

rachel234 · 22/09/2011 10:54

There are lots of unisex names (Rowan, Alex, Morgan, etc) and once you meet the person, then you remember if it is a male or female, no? Smile

tummytickler · 22/09/2011 10:58

I love it. My Grandpa is a Robin, lovely name!

whackamole · 22/09/2011 11:02

I'm glad the overall consensus (so far) is not girly!

I think really I was only put off because me sister said she wasn't keen. Well, it's definitely on the list now Grin

My Ex dp was a Robin, so I am not keen. But I spose its quite a nice name.

iskra · 22/09/2011 11:10

I love it for a boy.

seeker · 22/09/2011 11:15

Fine if short for Robert. Twee and babyish as a name in its own right.

HeidiHole · 22/09/2011 11:15

I know a little Robin... Nickname is Birdy!

Smadarama · 22/09/2011 11:16

It's a lovely name and I think of it as a boys name.

tammytoby · 22/09/2011 11:17

Robin is a lovely boys' name. I much prefer it to Robert (which is a completely different name imo).

GwendolineMaryLacey · 22/09/2011 11:17

The only Robin I know is in his 60's and there's nothing twee and babyish about him. Lovely name :)

LetThereBeRock · 22/09/2011 11:41

Love it.

titan · 22/09/2011 11:46

Beautiful name for a boy. Isn't the female version normally spelled Robyn?

tammytoby · 22/09/2011 11:47

Yeah, Robyn looks more feminine.

minipie · 22/09/2011 14:09

I love it and I know more male Robins than female Robins. So I'd probably think boy first.

Meteorite · 22/09/2011 16:09

I do think it's a bit feminine (even though the girls' equivalent has a different spelling) - sorry.

Debs75 · 22/09/2011 16:18

My dd is Robyn.
Dp's choice as he is a huge batman fan and we had already used Selina(Kyle=Catwoman) for the cat.
The only downside in later years is the Robin Hood jokes or the 'Where's Batman?'

That aside I do quite like Robin and he will be your son so nothing we all say should put you off
