Not a name I'd choose, but nothing wrong with it IYSWIM.

susiedaisy · 20/09/2011 21:40

More of a surname IMO

usualsuspect · 20/09/2011 21:42

I know a Floyd ,nice name I like it

Kirstle · 20/09/2011 21:44

great - I cant think of any potential life-scarring possibly bullying connotations either, which is always a plus. (Although I know that they can pick on something other than a name)
Thanks so far.

Makes a refreshing change from all the little Fins/Finns around, I guess.

LetThereBeRock · 20/09/2011 21:58

No.It's ghastly.

hulabula · 20/09/2011 22:00

I don't mind it - it doesn't bother me. Can't see what is 'ghastly' about it though Shock?

Meteorite · 21/09/2011 09:17

Pink

tummytickler · 21/09/2011 09:43

Its ok. Floyd the Barber jumps in to my head immediately though. (Nirvana song)

Kirstle · 21/09/2011 09:45

Nothing ghastly about it at all :) but that is someone elses opinion I suppose. Never heard of Floyd the Barber and if Pink Floyd is the only "bad" connotation, then I think we are ok :)
whoop!
On the shortlist it goes....

I say it's ghastly because I think it's a horrid name. We were asked for opinions and I gave mine.

It also makes me think of the hurricane.

seeker · 21/09/2011 10:47

Drunk tv cook.

minipie · 21/09/2011 11:23

I think of Keith Floyd, so not keen.

What about Lloyd?

hulabula · 21/09/2011 12:03

Hurricane Confused

Drunk TV cool Confused

I wouldn't choose Flynn personally but it doesn't bother me and I'm sure once people meet your Flynn, they'll start to associate his name with him (rather than hurricanes of drunk tv characthers Smile.)

hulabula · 21/09/2011 12:04

sorry, cook (not cool) Blush

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 21/09/2011 12:13

I like to think (having never actually met my father) that Keith Floyd was my dad. It's a shame he's dead as I think we'd have got on like a house on fire.

I'm not sure about Floyd as a first name though.

As you were.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 21/09/2011 12:14

I am aware that this makes me sound unhinged btw. I can assure you that I am quite sane Grin

lchodge · 21/09/2011 15:54

My partner loves that name but I can't stand it. I couldn't even bring myself to let him name our dog Floyd. No particular reason why though!
