DC3 due in Feb. Don't know if boy or girl. We like Mary as a first name, but don't know what mn goes. Don't want to sound too nun like (e.g. Mary Josephine) or too American (e.g Mary Lou). We have come up.with Mary Elizabeth or Mary Edith. Any thoughts? Alternative suggestions? Thanks

I think Mary Elizabeth is lovely and has great cadence. Edith is OK, but it sounds more clunky.

I prefer Mary Elizabeth, agree with Meditrina; Mary Edith sounds awkward when you say it out loud.

Mary Elizabeth, Edith is awful.

Mary Edith is just beautiful!

Mary Elizabeth is okay, but very dull.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 16/09/2011 19:39

Mary Elizabeth, but im biased. My DD is Elizabeth Mary! (and she's far from dull!) Grin

I am a Mary Elizabeth and it has always done me very proud. :)

Mary Elizabeth flows better, though I love both. Mary is a wonderful name.

Mary Elizabeth. By far.

I'm biased as my daughter's middle names are Mary Elizabeth. They run together better than Mary Edith I think because there are too many "eee" sounds running together in Mary Edith.

Rhubarbgarden · 16/09/2011 20:17

I prefer Mary Edith. Much more original.
