Can I have you opinions on whether you think the name Pippa will become more popular over the next year due to the whole royal wedding thing and Pippa Middleton?

It probably will. Personally I don't like it.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 15/09/2011 12:10

Oh, I love the name "Pippa" though would put "Philippa" on the Birth cert.

Never thought of the royal wedding connection, but now you say it perhaps there will be a little influx of them.

Surely it won't make it to the top ten, though? Everyone will have forgotten in a couple of years or so...

Meteorite · 15/09/2011 12:11

Not sure whether it will become more popular, maybe a bit.

I like Pippa, as nickname for Philippa.

AlmaMartyr · 15/09/2011 12:12

Might become a bit more popular, probably not much though. I get the impression that the media are more enamoured with Pippa Middleton than anyone else.

I love the name though.

pinkytheshrinky · 15/09/2011 12:14

I do quite like it but i would never use it because of her royal - it is a good name for a dog though

BedHog · 15/09/2011 21:02

Not in Greece - it's a slang term for 'having a wank' there!

I think quite possibly yes, I rather like Pippa, but absolutely hate Philipa!

BatmanLovesRobin · 16/09/2011 07:31

Philippa means 'lover of horses'.

Just thought I'd throw that in Grin

harassedandherbug · 16/09/2011 09:37

My friend has a Philippa nn Pippa, and she's not impressed that it may become so popular!

Rhubarbgarden · 16/09/2011 15:05

My friend Philippa was shocked to read recently that it is one of the fastest growing names in popularity. I've no idea where she read that though. I think it's a lovely name, especially with Pippa as a nickname (my friend is Flipper; less nice...)

Kaekae · 16/09/2011 19:35

This is my sisters all time fav baby name. I have never come across someone else who likes it!

Stars22 · 16/09/2011 19:42

I have heard of a couple of babies been born recently called Pippa. I know a 4 yr old and and 40 yr Pippa also. I think it has started to become more popular since Pippa Middleton.

Kaekae · 16/09/2011 19:54

I like it but prefer Polly.
