But I am an F1 nut

minipie · 15/09/2011 10:40

I rather like it.

evamummy · 15/09/2011 11:00

I love it!

Rhubarbgarden · 15/09/2011 11:16

A bit long, but I do like it.

LetThereBeRock · 15/09/2011 11:20

Horrid.

mayanna123 · 15/09/2011 11:55

Ooh, interesting name. I like it, actually. Makes a refreshing change from all the little Freddies, Zacs, Sams, Jacks etc.

I think we should all be encouraging more name diversity, it makes life much more interesting. And I think Ferdidand sounds very grown up/elegant, while Ferdie can be his nickname when he's smaller.

rachel234 · 15/09/2011 11:59

I have a great uncle (in Germany) called Ferdinanad. Sounds a little old fashioned to my ears but seems to follow the trend, with 'old mens' names' becoming in vogue again.

Ferdinand is a good solid, classic name. And very underused at the moment, so that's another positive imo.

rachel234 · 15/09/2011 12:00

sorry, Ferdinand (not Ferdinanad)

PercyFilth · 15/09/2011 13:20

Another nn is Nando.

Haberdashery · 15/09/2011 13:21

Nando just makes me think of chicken, but Ferdinand is lovely.

DaydreamDolly · 15/09/2011 13:25

Oh no, please don't Sad

rachel234 · 15/09/2011 13:34

Why , Dreamdolly Confused?

DaydreamDolly · 15/09/2011 15:04

I'm sorry I just can't bear it, the look of it, the sound of it - I think Ferdie is sweet but Ferdinand, just no. Sorry, tis only 1 womans opinion! And opinions is what the OP was after! Not sure why you are confused rachel.

rachel234 · 15/09/2011 15:07

Oh, I see. I guess I was surprised why you felt SO strongly and sad about (what seems to me a perfectly normal) name. And no, I don't have a Ferdinand Smile.

CaptainNancy · 15/09/2011 15:09

It's a little too 'crown prince' for me...

MelinaM · 15/09/2011 15:18

As in Rio? ...No, absolutely not!
