Sorry- Small Kangeroo or the stupid one from friends.
I quite like Joe though.

Rhubarbgarden · 14/09/2011 16:40

No. Kangaroo.

Bert2e · 14/09/2011 16:50

Nope for the same reasons as the other posters.

In my day at secondary school it was a derogative term for someone who was a bit of an idiot. It came from Joey Deacon who was a disabled man featured on Blue Peter in the 80's - kids are so cruel sometimes.

Bunbaker · 14/09/2011 17:37

Joseph is nice and then your son can choose to call himself Joey or Joe if her wants.

IslaValargeone · 14/09/2011 17:38

Not a fan myself, but entirely influenced by seeing the name in print and in reminding me of an utter cow on a different website.

hester · 14/09/2011 17:40

I absolutely love Joe/Joseph/Joel/Jonah. Joey too, by extension, though this is one of the few cases when I actually agree with those who say give them the full name, use the nickname for as long as it suits the child and you.

MadameDefarge · 14/09/2011 17:55

I have a joseph, when he was small he was Jojo, now he is either Joseph or Joe. So no harm in calling him Joey when he is tiny....I remember when ds decided that Jojo was too babyish, and we of course then stopped (though took a bit of time and some stern looks from him to remember)

Wormshuffler · 14/09/2011 17:56

I thought the exact same as mummyslittlesunbeams.................

Meteorite · 14/09/2011 18:01

It's a budgie's name, sorry.

Poppins27 · 14/09/2011 18:07

I'm obviously in the minority here as I love the name and am currently trying to convince DP that he also loves it as much as me!! Im not planning on going with Joe or Joseph....just Joey.

chickydoo · 14/09/2011 18:15

I adore it!! biased though as I have a Joey. Really Joseph, but when he was tiny, it suited him. Now he's huge, plays tons of sport and is still Joey, and I like it, love it actually....lots of Joe's around, but only my Joey. He's never once been teased about his name, it just suits him. Mummy's little sunbeams, he is no idiot, top of class in almost every subject.

poppydaisy · 14/09/2011 18:53

I'm not keen - too cutey for me.
