this name came to me today and I think I quite like it!! We have our first baby boy due soon and while DH is sold on Leo, I'm still not sure. What do people think of Sid? Also spelt syd and not short for sidney. Like or no?

Prefer Leo, Sid is nice but I feel it's one of the 'old man' names like Alfie, Archie etc... that seem to be very 'of the moment'.

Meteorite · 14/09/2011 14:57

I like Sid/Syd, but only as a nickname for Sidney/Sydney.

LetThereBeRock · 14/09/2011 15:42

It's a horrid name. It has an ugly harsh sound. Leo is nicer.

poppydaisy · 14/09/2011 15:44

I think Sid short for Sidney is much cooler and less 'trendy' than Leo. Lovely name actually.

Sorry, not keen. I think of Sid Vicious. Leo is soooo much nicer.

Yuck!

Sidney is a lovely name. Sydney is a place-name I've heard of people using for their baby girls. Syd, looks like it should be an abbreviation of a medical term to me. I like Sid though.

brodanbell · 14/09/2011 18:08

Leo is 100x nicer. Wasn't the nasty kid next door called Sid in Toy Story. That and it's an old mans name.

roz1982 · 14/09/2011 19:00

Yeah it is an old mans name innit. Ok it's off the list!!
