These are my boys favourites at the mo. Any thoughts? Do your worst!

I love Noah, Jude and Toby but really dislike Brodie. How about Fergus or Alastair for a nice Scots name, maybe as a middle name?

Moominsarescary · 15/09/2011 02:22

Noah think that's what we will be having

Moominsarescary · 15/09/2011 02:24

Oh or Elijah but my dp is also less keen

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 15/09/2011 22:22

I love Brodie, and it's on our short list. Really surprised at the strength of feeling here about it, but I am Scottish and live in Scotland, and suspect that (most of) the people so set against it are English. It has become a bit more popular outside Scotland in an American form, Brody, I reckon and I wonder if that's what prompted the "chav" comment.

I have a Jude and EVERYONE adores his name. It is also quite rare and if we meet another one it is special!

Becaroooo · 25/09/2011 08:46

I like all of them!!!

I have a Toby and we havent met many others...lots of Jack's and Harry's and Noah's round about here though!

Toby (obv!) and Jude are my faves from your list. I like Noah too and Brodie but I see Brodie as a surname for some reason (?)

RoseHoney · 25/09/2011 12:26

Hmmmm Toby/Tobias was on my final 2 list but maybe not anymore lol. Didnt realise it was so popular! I dont know any :\
I LOVE Brody/Brodie! My OH doesnt though :( Same goes for Jude!
Noah is a fave for me too but my sister has bagsied that name if she ever has a boy lol.
Looks like we have similar taste in names lol. I also like Isaac.

themightyskim · 25/09/2011 12:58

I like them all, kind of agree on the Toby front, to me it is a dogs name, but then Im named after the family dog so I cant comment lol my dad didnt know and my mum didnt tell him until after she's cruel like that! I love Jude Ive never met a Jude either, Noah is a solid fave name and Ive never heard of Brodie as a first name, but I like it and its a bit unusual so at least it wont be like the 900 sams you get in a school :) none of them are chavvy or way out imo, and I wouldnt bat an eyelid at hearing any of them

beaditAli · 26/09/2011 21:07

Jude is lovely
Loads of babies here called Noah. Noah's nose. No! Noah.. quite hard to say Hmm
Like Toby and only know one
Not keen on Brodie either

smartyparts · 26/09/2011 21:09

Love Noah and Jude.

Toby - dog's name.

Brodie - awful.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2011 21:31

Noah, Jude, Tobias - all good.

Brodie - really horrible, sorry.

Jezabelle · 26/09/2011 21:39

Toby - dog
Brodie I like, with your Scottish ancestory I think you've got a great reason to use it despite the critics.
Jude I love.
Noah I've never quite got. Just think of a man on an ark, sorry!

lollystix · 26/09/2011 21:52

Oh bugger - Brodie is on my list but then I'm scotsGrin. Told my English friend and she said yuk to it too- too American apparently. Good Edinburgh name as someone said the other day.

Noah lovely as is Toby (only know one in NZ). I do like Jude but it makes me think of Jude the obscure and I saw the film where there was this awful scene where they hung all the kids and it still haunts me - sorry.

WishesForSunshine · 26/09/2011 22:01

LOVE Toby. I have a Toby, don't know of any others and have been teaching children for many years. Certainly not popular round here. Was a criteria of mine when choosing a name that I will never have taught a child with that name before.

Used to love Noah but is becoming quite popular.
Like Jude.
Quite like Brodie actually.

sanityseeker · 26/09/2011 23:37

we have a Tobias (toby)It is a fab name and not doggy!
Want to call our new baby Jude but the older kids do not like it (there names are Ellie Abby and zachary)
just call him what you want there are so may weird and wonderful names these days that i don't think you can go wrong(one of my daughters has a Raven , Angel and AND AN EDEN IN HER CLASS!)
