sorry as i know this is the third new thread on this board in less than a week which i've started. anyway a friend of a friend (who doesn't live in the same area) has named their new baby Toby. i love this and am now considering it. what does everyone else think? it would be Toby Edmund. also does it sound ok with our daughters name Beatrice? i think Bea and Toby sound sweet.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Personally I am getting a little tired of the cutey type names for boys - Alfie, Archie, Charlie, Toby etc. They are very widely used and I think will start to date as people tire of them.
But it is your baby and your choice. But you did ask for honest opinions Smile.

I love Beatrice, on the other hand.

mumofbumblebea · 04/09/2011 17:21

othersideofchannel, I know both a Alfie and a Toby who are both far from cutey! I like Toby and think it sounds cute on a baby when he is young as well as sounding cool on a teenager and profesional on an adult. Good luck chosing! :)

It's ok, but I'd put Tobias on the bc.

sjuperwolef · 04/09/2011 17:29

honest to god, toby willy and boab are all penis words here Blush

sjuperwolef · 04/09/2011 17:30

bit awkward for dd as one of our rellies gets called boab!

mumofbumblebea · 04/09/2011 17:34

i've heard willy (obviously) but not the others. have to say though when i hear the name william i instantly think of willy and therefore penis. i'm just that mature Blush

I know a lovely paramedical called Toby - he's 40 Grin

sjuperwolef · 04/09/2011 17:37

same here im afraid to say Blush Grin

rachel234 · 04/09/2011 17:40

I am also surprised how popular William is given the obvious Willy teasing potential. Perhaps due to Prince William?

Toby - I'm not keen, sorry. Tobias is quite nice.

sjuperwolef · 04/09/2011 17:44

between willy and williams wish wellingtons ..

mumofbumblebea · 04/09/2011 18:02

for some reason tobias just doesn't work for me. i can imagine me having a toby but not a tobias. other names we have thought of over the last couple of days -
Angus (nn Gus)
Rupert.

love angus!

poppydaisy · 04/09/2011 18:32

Love Rupert. Much nicer than Toby imo.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 04/09/2011 20:03

I can't believe there is so much Toby-bashing on this thread!

I think it's a lovely name. Familiar yet not boring & also uncommon.
