Not pregnant right now but do you think this works in the UK?

Means Princess in Amharic (I am an Ethiopian Christian).

Thanks

TAMPON.

Not good.

midnightexpress · 01/09/2011 10:25

Yes, sounds like a tampon to me too I'm afraid.

MrsOzz · 01/09/2011 10:41

Could try Lolita instead?

Although that also has some slightly unsavory connections...

midnightexpress · 01/09/2011 10:46

slightly unsavoury??? Grin.

Ephiny · 01/09/2011 10:48

Don't think it works well in English, sorry. Even aside from the tampon issue, it just looks odd somehow.

What about Leila?

HollyGoHeavily · 01/09/2011 10:55

Sorry, but it doesn't sound right to my British ears. It is too much like 'Lilet' which is one of the leading brand of tampons.

I wouldn't go for Lolita either as it will never shake off the highly dodgy and unpleasant novel.

If you like names beginning with 'L' how about Lilia, Lilian, Lorelei, Layla?

first1 · 01/09/2011 12:39

Tampon. Definitely tampon.

birdofthenorth · 01/09/2011 12:59

Tampon. First thought. Sorry.

Would be spelt wrong a lot in the UK too.

FleurTing · 02/09/2011 00:48

What about Lilith?

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 02/09/2011 01:45

EEW! Do you know who Lilith was Fleur? Grin

How about just nice simple Lily?

MrsRhettButler · 02/09/2011 01:51

How is it pronounced? Ly - lit?

FleurTing · 02/09/2011 17:24

Youre right Saggy, Lilith doesnt have very good connotations for those who know (blush) but its a name Ive always liked ! I`ve come across it in novels a few times...

Papyrus · 03/09/2011 06:44

My first thought would be Violet with a speech impediment. My second would be tampons - sorry.

EricNorthmansMistressOfPotions · 03/09/2011 21:30

Why Eww for Lilith? I know two people who named their DDs Lilith after the pre-Eve or whoever she was. Why is that Eww?

MollieO · 03/09/2011 21:33

The only Lilith I've heard of was the mad ex-wife in Frasier/Cheers! Not a name I'd choose.

Lielit I'd assume was a misspelt tampon.

thisisyesterday · 03/09/2011 21:35

how is it pronounced?
lee-lit?
lye-lit?

i know a Lilith, that's a lovely name

FairyArmadillo · 03/09/2011 23:00

Unfortunately it does sound too much like Lilets- the tampons.
