Kaiya or Tyra?

It has been sooo difficult to find a name for this baby!

Dp and I have about 10 names each but we don't like any of each others names.

One of dp's is kaiya which I do like but probably not enough, plus I can't find a definite meaning and meanings mean a lot to me (too many means in that sentence)

Just tonight we have come up with Tyra which I think is really nice and (shock horror) he agrees!

So I kinda wanna judge peoples reactions to Tyra as we literally came up with it 10 mins ago and also which name you like best. Thank you

As an aside I would like Leila but he has totally vetoed it :(

when you say you 'came up with' Tyra, what do you mean? did you make it up?

MmeLindor. · 28/08/2011 21:29

Oh. Dear.

Ok, going to be honest.

Kaiya is not good. Too many vowels, starts with a K.

Tyra is slightly better but still a no from me.

What are the names that each of you like?

lesstalkmoreaction · 28/08/2011 21:31

I prefer Kyra, probably because I know a lovely girl by the same name!!

ZhenXiang · 28/08/2011 21:35

Kaia is similar to Kaiya and means pure in Greek or echo in Estonian.

Tyra means God in Norse, but it just reminds me of that model Tyra Banks who I don't like.

Like Leila the most out of the 3 you mentioned, it means night beauty in Arabic, shame he doesn't like it, have you asked him the reason for the veto?

MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 21:38

No, Tyra is a real name! I don't do made up names!

I know a Kyra too lesstalk, one of my best friends little girls :)

Well dp wants all sorts, other than kaiya he likes Maria, kimber, Samantha.....

I like Leila, Simone or Desiree but none of them are going to happen as we don't like each others

He's just not feeling it zhen. He says it's 'ok' which isn't good enough

Thank you for honesty Mme

Sorry - but I don't like either. I don't know why I don't like Kyra, I just don't. Tyra - Tyra Banks... no, just noooooo

Keep going..... I'm sure you'll come up with something else :)

MmeLindor. · 28/08/2011 21:41

Kimber? Or Kimberly?

He seems to have a slight 1970s UK girls name thing going there.

And you are more International pop stars.

Hmm.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 28/08/2011 21:44

Leila or Simone. Wait until you're in labour to ask Grin

MugglesandLuna · 28/08/2011 21:44

Please dont pick Desiree.

MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 21:46
Grin

He definitely does! And yes, I expect you're right about me too.

I don't know, dd's name was so easy it was the first one we came up with and we never changed our minds.

If it was a boy it would be simple too, Michael.

Even though theyve said it's a girl I'm beginning to hope they got it wrong!

OP posts:
MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 21:48

No, desiree has been well and truly vetoed! Not many people like that one, I'm on my own there.

Sorry Mme, it's Kimber, I didn't miss out the 'ly' (weird name but then who am I to talk?)

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 28/08/2011 21:49

Michelle?

MmeLindor. · 28/08/2011 21:53

Michaela?

Suncottage · 28/08/2011 21:53

As you are Mrs Rhett Butler how about;

Bonnie Blue?

Scarlett?

MmeLindor. · 28/08/2011 21:54

and anyone who puts Kimber on his list is automatically disqualified from babynaming duties

MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 21:59

For some reason although i love Michael I hate hate hate Michelle or michaela!

Suncottage, I wanted blue as a middle name for dd but he wouldn't let me Angry

I tend to agree with you Mme, if only I didn't have to take his opinions into account....

OP posts:
MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 22:01

Oh and Scarlett is his best friends daughter!

We are well and truly stuck
I really wish he would just agreet o Leila or simone :(

Stephanie

Amy

Nicole

Amanda

(thinking of my friend's names) I think that 70s names are due a comeback soon.

ThePathanKhansWoman · 28/08/2011 22:09

Simone is beautiful, can i say i don't like Tyra.

smilesy · 28/08/2011 22:10

Sorry, not keen on either. Tyra makes me think of Tyra banks too and I know a particularly lunatic Golden Retreiver called Kaia....

I agree with you that Leila is nice.

MrsRhettButler · 28/08/2011 22:11

But your getting it wrong Mme! It's him that likes 70's not me! Grin
Nicole I nice but again, a very good friends little girl is calked that and it feels like 'her' name
