Is this a bit of a mouthful?

I don't think so - prefer it with a h on the end if I'm honest. (but actually I like susanna petter)

But it is fine

scarlettlips · 27/08/2011 15:53

I like it....How many syllables does your surname have??

redglow · 27/08/2011 15:53

two scarlett

It's definitely sayable. Lots of names have 3 syllables, even "easy" ones like William and Alison which everyone can manage!

I too prefer the H on the end.

scarlettlips · 27/08/2011 20:23

Yup sounds good to me...if you think it works then go for it! x

Do you think Savannah would look better..ie written out?

Bandwithering · 27/08/2011 20:45

I used to love this name about 20 odd years ago and then I read the prince of tides by pat conroy and was put off it.

prefer Susannah tbh

WiiUnfit · 27/08/2011 22:09

I love it but please add the 'H' on the end, it looks a lot nicer IMO, sort of more symmetrical. I wanted Savannah considered when pg with DS (we didn't know the sex). DP was a little unimpressed. :(

manicinsomniac · 28/08/2011 21:21

My oldest is Savannah (8 years old). Definitely like it with an 'h' on the end. I don't find it a mouthful and generally prefer to use the whole thing but her friends often use 'Vannah'.

BikeRunSki · 28/08/2011 21:26

If you must use it, put the H on.

I have never understood Savannah as a girl's name- it is a habitat/environment. Maybe because I am a geologist, but to me it is like calling someone Tundra or Permafrost.

Greythorne · 28/08/2011 21:35

I am not keen
Sorry
It sounds very redneck to me
Don't even know if we can say redneck, but I know 'chav' is frowned upon :)

fishandlilacs · 28/08/2011 21:57

i know a lovely Savannah, adult. She's often known as Vannie or Vans though.

MotherOfCleo · 29/12/2012 00:33

we plan to call our first daughter...if we ever have one.....savanna brooke. I love it, i think it is much nicer without the h on the end. Just my opinion tho.
If you write off savanna as it is a grassland then you could write off Paige, Brooke, Cooper, Sienna, Saffron, Rose, Ivy etc etc as they are names of 'things' too, it all comes down to personal choice. Grin

We like it because of the tie to africa my OH is originally from their so it links nicely to his heritage. Grin
Good luck with whatever you choose!

CatchingMockingbirds · 29/12/2012 19:41

My friend named one of her twin girls Savannah, it's a beautiful name Smile

TheElfOnThePanopticon · 29/12/2012 19:53

It's a bit too beauty pageant for my taste, but if you do use it, it's nicer with an h at the end.

littlecloud · 29/12/2012 20:23

I like it and it was on my girls list when pregnant with both ds's (before I knew they were boys) Also H on the end for me too, looks incomplete otherwise written down, well to me anyway.

EuroShopperEnergyDrink · 29/12/2012 20:28

Vile. On par with with Lexi/Lexie/Lexxiii

Rhubarbgarden · 29/12/2012 23:01

I think TheElf has nailed it with 'Beauty pageant'.

MotherOfCleo · 30/12/2012 00:58

i dont think comments like 'vile' are exactly constructive :-( name choices are personal, for example I dont like Sarah, Sophie, Emily etc but I wouldnt tell someone who liked them that they were vile Sad

Peehaps thats just me though.
