So we're onto either Lachlan or Brodie for this one but I'm looking for more suggestions. We already have a Euan, Callum and a Fergus. I had dismissed Innes but heard it in a shop today and quite liked it.

Im stuck - poor we'd Fergus was nameless for 10 days - I want to get this one cracked before he pops out.

I know brothers called Innes ans Struan!

I had the boy name problem and I only had three but had used some favourites as middle names so DS3 was tricky.

All my favourites have been mentioned but I don't think anyone has mentioned Torran, a less common name of Gaelic origin.

bemybebe · 29/08/2011 13:30

I love Hamish (know a great guy with this name!) and Scott. Robert and Bruce are close next.

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2011 13:45

DS is Blair

Was very nearly Fraser or Struan. I like Nairn and Innes, I know a few.

Brodie makes me think of the "Country Fair" place beside nairn, but thats not a huge issue!

patindahat · 29/08/2011 14:58

Iagan?

daimbardiva · 29/08/2011 15:28

This is a really useful thread for me - thanks! I live to close to Nairn, Brodie and Elgin to use those as names though!

Totally love Blair (am campaigning for his as name for next baby if it is a boy - OH yet to be convinced) and Hamish (OH says no). I love love love Struan but unfortunately it just doesn't go with our surname at all.

I really like Lachlan - again not great with our surname, but it's a lovely name.

Eoin (pronounced Iain)?

daimbardiva · 29/08/2011 15:29

Also meant to say Harris? I know a few of these and like it - interesting alternative to Lewis

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2011 19:51

Ooh Daimbar your near my neck of the woods then!!

If DH starts going on about Tony Blair or Lionel Blair tell him not an issue, everyone we've intoduced our Blair too has loved it, or at least managed to lie convincingly!!!

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2011 19:52

you are/you're not your! Bleddy iPod

daimbardiva · 29/08/2011 20:30

Oooh, nice to know I'm not the only mumsnetter around here! I have to say I'm on shoogly ground with the Tony Blair thing, as I rejected Cameron 'cos of David Cameron (not really, just not keen, but it's a good excuse!) :)

Xavielli · 29/08/2011 20:36

Was thinking of boys names, do you think Lachlan Docherty (using the loch pronunciation, I think LAHK-Lin sounds like a strange bird noise!) is too ck- heavy?

Xavielli · 29/08/2011 20:37

Lol, totally posted that in the wrong place, was meant to be in ante-natal.

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2011 20:37

I've emigrated to the central belt though . There are loads of Camerons. Use that excuse next time, deny all knowledge of you using Call me Dave as an excuse!!

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2011 20:39

Ach Xavielli Lachlan Docherty sounds fab though!! with a soft ch sound!

Cereal · 29/08/2011 20:40

I thought someone was suggesting Xavielli as a boys' name there (is it a name?)

Xavielli · 29/08/2011 20:47

Haha! No, it's the first half of my two eldest children's names stuck together... I wouldn't recommend it as a name!

GoingToHelenaHandcart · 29/08/2011 20:54

Seoraidh - pronounce Sho Ray is nice

kaumana · 29/08/2011 21:04

To put in my tuppence worth I'd go with Lachlan, but I do like Brodie too Confused

OriginalPoster · 29/08/2011 21:29

Robbie

scottishmummy · 29/08/2011 21:36

imo innes=girl name
alistair
struan
adair
campbell
ross
like all them

cameron and lewis too over done
ps. lachlan is v popular in oz and nz and they will pronounce as lochlan.

kaumana · 29/08/2011 21:48

Innes, (Innis) has always been a male name around here, but am aware that Ines (pants can't figure out how do acutes etc, Inez ) is a French name but is pronounced very differently.

scottishmummy · 29/08/2011 21:50

i do like innes

kaumana · 29/08/2011 21:59

Same with Alistair most people spell Alasdair here and is pronounced as such(soft d, compared to a hard t) Speaking from experience Wink the name of Lachlan is pronounced as Lacklan in the US. Agh!
