Weird

SkivingAgain · 23/08/2011 19:30

I know a little boy named Beau, he is gorgeous - I didn't like the name when I first heard it but love it now.

lesstalkmoreaction · 23/08/2011 19:32

I know a little girl and she's really sweet and it suits her, I don't mind it.

popcornchicken · 23/08/2011 19:34

I like it for a girl and a boy .

Will date horribly. And will sound ridiculous attached to 80% of all adult humans.

minipie · 23/08/2011 19:39

Pretty awful IMO.

It is the word for a good looking male so it makes no sense at all as a girl's name.

As a boy's name it's ok I suppose but better pray he is good looking all the way through - he could have a pretty awful time as a gangly or spotty teen.

gailpottertilsleyplatt · 23/08/2011 19:51

No to Beau.

legalalien · 23/08/2011 20:04

I like it, provided you have some sort of reason for using it (eg some link to the southern states). It makes me think of Gone with the Wind (or possibly Beau Brummel). Why will it date (ignorant emoticon)?

legalalien · 23/08/2011 20:06

just to clarify - of course Beau Brummell is not from the southern US

legalalien · 23/08/2011 20:07

Calling a little girl Beau would be odd.

You could always go for Bo, as in Bo and Luke Duke Grin

mathanxiety · 24/08/2011 06:14

I like it.

InstantAtom · 24/08/2011 09:52

Not to my taste, sorry.

WiiUnfit · 24/08/2011 10:00

I like it but whenever I see it written I always want to say "Bwuuue" & have to mentally correct myself. I fear a lot of people won't & will say the above wrong pronounciation. Also nn to using Beau as a girl's name as the meaning is handsome male as minipie said.

RueyBoey · 26/08/2011 00:36

It isn't a name, sorry.

TillyIpswitch · 26/08/2011 02:56

It's the male version of Belle. Definitely not a girl's name.

I believe it has rather redneck connotations in the US... Was there anyone actually called Beau in GWTW? Scarlett had beaux but I don't recall any actual characters with the name.

legalalien · 26/08/2011 16:13

yep, ashley and melanie's son.

acsec · 26/08/2011 16:14

I know a little girl called Beau - it's an odd name imo

DorothyGherkins · 26/08/2011 16:19

I knew of two poodles called Beau (very nice poodles though) (and not related)

CroissantNeuf · 26/08/2011 16:21

I know a girl called Beau (non-UK European)

I initially thought it was weird as its a 'male' word but I'm used to it now. Not sure it would work in the UK as a name though

nokissymum · 26/08/2011 16:23

Its a rather old fashioned american name, no, dont like it much, reminds me of beau bridges.

welliesandpyjamas · 26/08/2011 16:23

I know a beautiful little 8 yr old female Beau. It suits her.

TillyIpswitch · 26/08/2011 19:50

Oh yeah. His was short for Beauregard.

WhiffOfBath · 26/08/2011 19:51

I wanted to call DD Boo when pg with her. DH (wisely) refused. Pregnancy hormones have much to answer for. Grin

pointydog · 26/08/2011 19:59

awful
