Love this name. My middle name is Elaina, which my parents sort of amended from Eleanor, as that was the name of their favourite God parent, but didnt want to appear to be favouring anyone in particular. My DD is an Eleanor.

AnnMarie82 · 23/08/2011 12:49

Love, especially with the nn Nora although I really don't like Ellie as a nn!

Collision · 23/08/2011 12:49

It is a good strong name that carries well throughout life.

I would not choose it for my dd as I do not think it is a particular pretty name as it sounds hard to me but I do not dislike it.

I prefer Ella.

cece · 23/08/2011 12:50

I like it and prefer it in full rather than shortening it to Ellie.

Iamkenny · 23/08/2011 12:51

I like it. people know it but yet there aren't a lot. I like it Elinor (as in Dashwood)

I also like Elaine

minipie · 23/08/2011 12:57

Eleanor and Elinor both lovely. I also like Ellen, quite unusual still at the mo.

Ellie and Ella are ubiquitous nicknames but I still like them.

dippyducky · 23/08/2011 13:05

Love it, top of our list. Seen nn Nell suggested on another thread.

AberdeenAngusina · 23/08/2011 13:13

Love it. Works for girls and adult women, and has a choice of nns.

ThatllDoPig · 23/08/2011 13:18

Beautiful elegant name.

randomimposter · 23/08/2011 13:18

Love Eleanor with Nell as a NN. Not keen on Ellie personally, a bit meh. Nora's ok.

Pepa · 23/08/2011 13:20

Love it but am biased as its my dd2's name!!

Ellypoo · 23/08/2011 13:43

I can't rate it highly enough!!

It's my name, and I have all sorts of nn's: El, Elly, Nell, Nora. It can be a pain having to spell it out to people all the time, but I think it's a great name!!!

Thanks everyone.

It's lovely.

CurwySwide · 23/08/2011 20:23

I like it (don't love it, sorry) - prefer spelling Elinor. However I do love Nell (Ellie etc. far too popular for me)

eurycantha · 23/08/2011 21:32

A lovely name.I used to look after an Eleanor Francesca Sophie, then I changed jobs and was looking after a Sophie Eleanor Francesca.Eleanor is usually known as Ellie.
