Cora?

DP seems to be set on this. I can't decide if I love it or hate it. Most people in RL seem underwhelmed. What do you think?

Love it ! would have used it for DD4 if hubbie had agreed. Know two in real life and think it is elegant and sweet.

usualsuspect · 19/08/2011 13:40

I love it

MamaLazarou · 19/08/2011 13:45

Sorry but I find it very unpleasant. An ugly sound.

thereistheball · 19/08/2011 13:47

It is the name of a French hypermarket chain, if that helps?

MsChanandlerBong · 19/08/2011 13:48

Makes me think of Downton Abbey - not a bad thing imo. Smile

wearenotamused · 19/08/2011 13:56

It's alright. prefer Clara, Cara etc. You'd get called Cor unless you set out a nn (eg Corie/Corey which is a boys name- but is alright) nope sorry doesn't sit well with me.

But it is not awful, not popular and if you like it - go for it.

I'd have a mn that was a bit of a statement as Cora's to me are quiet and demure and very gentl.

AlpiniAddict · 19/08/2011 14:40

I'm not much for Cora but prefer it to Cara, which I hate for some reason.

Ephiny · 19/08/2011 14:52

I like it. Have heard it mentioned a few times on here recently (though only met on in real life, many years ago) - I wonder if it's starting to get popular!

pommedechocolat · 19/08/2011 16:13

I started a thread on this recently1 I love it and want to use it if bump 2 is actually a dd2.

I like the nn corey though.

minipie · 19/08/2011 16:24

I like it. Prefer Cara though

theworldspins · 19/08/2011 17:01

Prefer Cara. But then I really like the nn Corey/Cori (don't like it with an ey to boy namey)

midnightexpress · 19/08/2011 17:04

I love it. I know one extremely cute Cora. I also like Cara, but I think I like Cora better.

wearenotinkansas · 19/08/2011 18:00

mmm, thanks all. Somehow it makes me think of an elderly aunt (think it's a character in a Agatha Christie book). Didn't know about the french hypermarket though Smile. I think I prefer Cara as well.

I really like Cora. Marginally prefer it as a shortened version of Cordelia but then I prefer a longer more flowery name.

del1 · 21/08/2011 21:46

My DP loves this name, as I think she is the female in last of the mohicans?
I like it, but worried people would think of of the Ki ora orange drink from the 80's?
Having said that, I have agreed to maybe having it as a middle name!

InstantAtom · 21/08/2011 22:22

Cora sounds the same as corer, the kitchen implement for removing apple cores.

Cara is much nicer IMO.

lizzieloubee1 · 22/08/2011 08:11

It's my "name I've loved since I was little" name :D. Love, love, LOVE it. It's also the name of the little girl Leonard DiCaprio dances with in Titanic.

proudfoot · 23/08/2011 03:14

I really love it.

cloudydays · 23/08/2011 03:22

I love it. I also love Cara, and Coral.

OrangeGloss · 23/08/2011 04:39

I love it. It's a character out of the new Tron film, though, so there might be a few more people than usual choosing it this year
