We nicknamed our Damson Jam, Jamson, so maybe it could be a a nn for James?

I'd go for nn rather than real name I think - it is pretty but mates would almost definitely shorten it to 'Dam'

No, she will be called Damn and Dammit all the bloody time. I should know; it's my maiden name.

I am, but I don't think she will be called Dammyrose, I think she will be called Damn.

I had a brief flirtation with the idea of naming dd after a fruit, a bit like in the Joanne Harris novel Five Quarters of the Orange where the characters are called Cassis, Reine-Claude and Framboise (it is set in France).

I decided it was a bit silly, apart from as a pet name (not even a nick name, just a private pet name!!) although I do think Plum is a nice nn for Victoria...

Reine-Claudes are named after a person anyway, so full circle! :)
